Here are the best-selling models from the top 5 car brands in PH

The PH auto industry is having a better sales performance this year.

The Philippine automotive industry had a better sales performance during the first half (H1) of 2021 compared to the same period last year. This is according to the data released by the Chamber of Automotive Manufacturers Philippines, Inc. (CAMPI), Truck Manufacturers Association (TMA), and Association of Vehicle Importers and Distributors, Inc. (AVID).

Best-selling cars in PH in H1 2021

The combined sales report showed that Toyota Motor Philippines (TMP) is still the number one car brand in the market with total sales of 63,758 units in H1 2021. Coming in as the second best-selling car brand in the country in H1 2021 is Mitsubishi Motors Philippines Corporation (MMPC) with 19,858 units sold. 

Suzuki Philippines Inc. (SPI) clinched the third spot as it sneaks past Ford Philippines with 9,987 units sold while the American car brand yielded 9,855 units. The fifth best-selling car brand in H1 2021 is Nissan Philippines with 9,047 units sold.   

The current success of each car brand can be attributed to its respective best-selling vehicles during the first six months of 2021. That said, here are the top three cars from the top five brands.    

Toyota - 63,758 units sold H1 2021

Toyota has once again proved its dominance in the local market as it registered the most number of cars sold in H1 2021. Toyota’s sales run in the first six months of 2021 is driven by the Vios with 16,807 units sold. It is followed by the Hilux with 8,856 units, and the Wigo with 8,707.     

Mitsubishi - 19,858 units sold H1 2021

Mitsubishi held solidly on the second spot with more than 19,000 units sold in H1 2021. The said car brand managed to hold its position through the sales performance of the Mitsubishi L300, a light commercial vehicle. The L300 posted 6,021 units sold, which is more sales as compared to the Xpander with 5,543 units, and the Mirage G4 with 3,737.  

Suzuki - 9,987 units sold H1 2021

Suzuki Philippines clinched the third best-selling car brand by selling 132 units more than Ford. That said, Suzuki posted 9,987 units sold in H1 2021. The third place finish of Suzuki is led by the Carry, a light commercial vehicle that falls under the same segment as the Mitsubishi L300. The Suzuki Carry registered 1,985 units sold while the Ertiga had 1,960 units, and the Dzire with 1,833.

As mentioned earlier, Ford Philippines fell short in securing the third spot as it only sold 9,855 units in H1 2021. Ford’s notable sales run can be attributed to the Ranger with 4,515 units sold, the Territory with 3,323 units, and the Everest with 899. 

Nissan - 9,047 units sold H1 2021

Nissan Philippines completes the top five best-selling car brands in H1 2021 with 9,047 units sold. Nissan’s sales performance was led by the Navara pickup truck with 4,043 units sold, followed by the Urvan with 1,719 units, and the Terra with 1,636.
