This upcoming structure is seen to cut travel time to just 20 to 30 minutes.

The Asian Development Bank (ADB) Philippines has released a teaser video of the planned Bataan-Cavite Interlink Bridge, a 32-kilometer inter-island bridge between Bataan and Cavite.

As one can see from the video, the bridge shown is still a 3D model. It shows the two cable-stayed type bridges that will make up the interlink bridge. The North Channel Bridge which starts at Barangay Alis-asin near the Mariveles Freeport Area is 400 meters long, while the South Channel Bridge terminating at Barangay Timalan Balsahan in Naic, Cavite, is 900 meters long.

Megastructures up to 181 meters tall were also shown in the teaser video. These, in turn, serve as the anchors for the cables that will support the bridge itself. On certain points, the bridge will also have up to 47 meters of clearance allowing ships to pass through below.

The bridge in question will then provide seamless travel between the provinces of Bataan and Cavite, once finished. This is because the completed bridge cuts through Manila Bay, bypassing the need to take in usual in-land routes. This reduces transit times between Bataan and Cavite to just 20 to 30 minutes, which is currently said to take five hours.

Its completion will also likely see a reduction of traffic on the regular routes to and from Bataan and Cavite. This will then further stimulate economic growth for both provinces.

Note that the necessary engineering works, planning, and designing for the massive structure already started as of 2020.

According to the Department of Public Works and Highways (DPWH), construction will then start in the first quarter of 2024. A feasibility study for the said bridge was likewise completed by the previous (Duterte) administration.

But why did a bank post a teaser video of the Bataan-Cavite Interlink Bridge? Well, the Philippine government is taking a Php 175 billion loan from ADB to fund this project. So without a doubt, the bank is likewise looking forward to its future success.
