Hyundai Motor wins more than 20 iF Design Awards.

Hyundai Motor Company has once again bagged multiple honors at the iF Design Award, which has been the case for the Korean automaker for 10 consecutive years as of this writing.

The iF Design is one of the notable international design competitions and the winners are selected in nine ‘disciplines’ which include product design, packaging design, communication design, interior architecture, professional concept, service design, architecture, user experience (UX), and user interface (UI). 

Hyundai’s all-new Santa Fe and Ioniq 5 N electric vehicle (EV) are included in the 2024 iF Design Award’s Product category while the Santa Fe XRT Concept is praised in the  Professional Concepts class.

The all-new Hyundai Santa Fe is a midsize crossover SUV that’s designed to be adventure-ready. The Korean automaker said that the fifth-generation Santa Fe features terrace-like living space made possible by its longer wheelbase and larger tailgate opening. The longer wheelbase also allows the new model to offer enhanced third-row seating.   

The all-new 2024 Hyundai Santa Fe is now available in the Philippines in three variants. It comes with a sticker price that starts at Php 2,410,000 while the top-of-the-line Hyundai Santa Fe Calligraphy retails at Php 3,10,000.

Propelling the 2024 Hyundai Santa Fe is the 2.5-liter inline-4 Smartstream gasoline engine. On the entry and mid trims, this engine is naturally aspirated and it can churn out 191 horsepower and 246 Nm of torque. On the top-spec Calligraphy trim, this engine is turbocharged, and it can push out 277 horsepower and 422 Nm of torque.

Hyundai Philippines said that the all-new Santa Fe equipped with a hybrid powertrain will be introduced in the local market by the second half of 2024.

Meanwhile, the Hyundai Santa Fe XRT Concept is designed to cater to the diverse needs of outdoor enthusiasts. The XRT Concept can handle challenging terrain with confidence and ease, offering versatile utility for outdoor lifestyles.

The Hyundai Ioniq 5 N, on the other hand, is an all-electric performance vehicle equipped with a dual-motor AWD (all-wheel-drive) system capable of generating a combined output of 641 horsepower, which is twice more than the most potent non-N Ioniq 5. Hyundai’s performance-oriented EV is said to have the capability to go from zero to 100 km/h in 3.4 seconds.

The Ioniq 5 N is also among the top three finalists in the 2024 World Performance Car, which is one of the categories in the World Car Awards. The Hyundai Ioniq 5 N is competing with the BMW M2 and the BMW XM under the World Performance Car of the Year category.

iF Design lauded several other Hyundai Motor submissions, which include the following:

Hyundai Santa Fe

The 2024 Hyundai Santa Fe is a five-door seven-seater mid-size crossover SUV. In the Philippine market, its three available variants are the entry-level GLS 2WD, the GLS AWD, and the top-spec Calligraphy AWD. These are priced at Php 2,410,000, Php 2,540,000, and Php 3,100,000 respectively. 

Propelling the Santa Fe are two powertrains. For the Calligraphy, it gets a 2.5-liter turbocharged Smartstream gasoline engine that can output 277 horsepower and 422 Nm of torque. The GLS trims meanwhile, get a naturally-aspirated 2.5-liter Smartstream gasoline mill that puts out 191 hp and 246 Nm of torque.

Both GLS trims use an eight-speed automatic transmission, while the top-spec Calligraphy variant uses an eight-speed dual-clutch transmission. The GLS is available in both front-wheel-drive and all-wheel-drive (AWD), while the Calligraphy is exclusively AWD. 

Size-wise, the GLS trims are 4,830mm long, 1,900mm wide, and 1,770mm in height. The Calligraphy has the same length and width, but it is slightly taller at 1,780mm. 

Locally, the Hyundai Santa Fe competes against the Jeep Grand Cherokee, Subaru Evoltis, GAC GS8, and Ford Explorer, among others.
