Honda Cars Philippines Inc. (HCPI) is off to a great start this year as it managed to enter the top five best-selling car brands last January.
The Chamber of Automotive Manufacturers of the Philippines, Inc. (CAMPI) announced that Honda Cars Philippines sold 1,639 units in January 2023. This allowed HCPI to secure the fifth spot in the top-selling car brands in the country last month. In fact, Honda trails by only 239 units with Nissan Philippines, occupying the fourth spot.
HCPI’s January 2023 sales run was led by the all-new BR-V, a model that was just launched in November 2022. This shows that a significant number of Filipino car buyers were indeed waiting for Honda’s seven-seater MPV to be offered in the market.

Data shared by HCPI stated that the all-new BR-V registered 805 units sold last January 2023. As such, the BR-V accounts for 49.1 percent of HCPI’s sales last month.
The 2023 Honda BR-V is offered in four variants with a starting price of Php 1,090,000 for the S MT variant, which features a six-speed manual transmission. Meanwhile, the top-spec BR-V VX with Honda Sensing retails at Php 1,390,000.

Standard across all Honda BR-V variants in the Philippines is a 1.5-liter i-VTEC DOHC gasoline engine that delivers 119 hp and 145 Nm of torque.
Securing the second best-selling Honda last January 2023 in the Philippines is the Brio. HCPI’s subcompact hatchback posted 286 units sold. The Honda Brio is available in four variants with a starting price of Php 680,000.
Completing the podium is the City Sedan, which fell behind the Brio by only 56 units sold. HCPI noted that there were 230 City Sedans that rolled off dealerships last January 2023. All Honda City Sedan variants are now offered with a continuously variable transmission (CVT) since the car brand dropped the manual transmission option last July 2022. The City Sedan starts at Php 953,000.

The 2024 Honda BR-V is a seven-seater compact MPV. It is now in its 2nd-gen version, and it has four different variants in the local market. There’s the top-spec VX Honda Sensing priced at 1,390,000, the V CVT priced at Php 1,295,000, the S CVT which has a price tag of Php 1,190,000, and the entry-level S MT priced at Php 1,090,000.
Under the hood of the Honda BR-V is a 1.5-liter gasoline inline-4 engine that’s capable of making up to 119 horsepower and 145 Nm of torque. Sending power to its front wheels is a continuously variable transmission (CVT).
Size-wise, the all-new BR-V is 4,490mm long, 1,780mm wide, and 1,685mm in height. It also has a wheelbase length of 2,700mm and a ground clearance of 207mm.
In the local market, the Honda BR-V competes against the Toyota Avanza, Hyundai Staria, Nissan Livina, and Mitsubishi Xpander, among others.

The all-new 2024 Honda BR-V was introduced to the Philippine market on November 21, 2022. Its initial debut occurred back on November 3, 2022, in Indonesia. For the Philippine market, its variants include the S MT and S CVT, the mid-spec V, and the top-spec VX Honda Sensing.
Honda BR-V Exterior
Depending on the trim, the BR-V gets full LED lighting with automatic headlamps and high beam assist. It also has LED taillights, LED daytime running lamps, and front fog lamps.
Also present on this MPV’s exterior are a pair of power folding side mirrors, a rear wiper, a shark-fin antenna, and a set of 17-inch wheels.

Inside the BR-V is a cabin that can seat up to seven. The top-spec model gets leather for the seats, steering wheel, as well as its gear shifter.
The said seats can also be folded down for more cargo space. For the second row, it is 60:40 split-folding, while the third row is 50:50 split-folding.
Keeping its occupants cool is an automatic air-conditioning system. A push-to-start button, a second-row armrest, illuminated sun visors, and an ample amount of bottle and cup holders are also present in this model.

Handling the entertainment needs of the BR-V's occupants is a seven-inch touchscreen with Apple CarPlay, Android Auto, and Bluetooth connectivity. This headunit is then linked to a six-piece speaker system. The BR-V also has USB charging ports.
The top-spec BR-V gets a total of six airbags. It also comes with the Honda LaneWatch blind spot camera and the Honda Sensing driver assistive suite.
The said suite includes adaptive cruise control, collision mitigation braking, lane keep assist, and lane departure warning.
Also present on the Philippine-spec BR-V is an immobilizer and security alarm, hill-start assist, stability control, anti-lock braking with EBD, parking sensors, and a parking camera.
