It’s stylish, and loaded with features.

The French automaker Peugeot has just released the all-new e-308. As per its name, this model line is based on the latest version of the 308 compact car. The new e-308 however, are fully electric models. It then comes in two body styles – a hatchback and a wagon.

Style-wise, both versions of the e-308 do not depart that much from the current-generation 308 that's sold in most parts of Europe. It still bears a pair of matrix LED headlamps surrounded by fang-shaped light signature frames, and the three-claw LED rear taillights.

These even come with the brand’s familiar grille design despite being fully electric. It will feature the new Peugeot logo, and it will also ride on a set of new 18-inch wheels.

The marque also showed the interior of the new e-308 hatch and wagon. It gets the new 10-inch touchscreen with the i-Connect infotainment system, as well as a new digital heads-up display that can be configured and customized by the user.

Additional space is then promised for the users of the larger e-308 wagon, but both versions do feature a stylish interior with plenty of attractive details, premium materials, and what looks like soft-touch surfaces.

The piece-de-resistance of the e-308 lineup though is its new electric powertrain and battery pack. For the powertrain itself, it can output the equivalent of 156 horsepower and 260 Nm of torque. Its 54-kWh battery then provides a range of up to 400 kilometers according to the Worldwide Harmonised Light Vehicles Test Procedure (WLTP). The exact range figures, though, will come out once the final homologation figures are released.

This new EV from Peugeot also has three drive modes. There’s economy, normal, or sport. The most interesting of these is the “Brake” drive mode which allows for regenerative braking. So every time a driver applies the brakes, some measure of power can be gained back to charge the vehicle’s batteries.

The e-308 also promises plenty in terms of safety. It comes packaged with adaptive cruise control with stop and go, a blind spot monitoring system that can detect objects up to 75 meters, among others.

While all of those sounds exciting, Peugeot won’t be selling the e-308 until the second half of 2023. On top of that, it will likely see a European release first. Interestingly, the brand is looking to sell it online as well.
