Toyota Corolla Cross gets extra style points courtesy of Modellista

The latest Corolla Cross gets the Modellista treatment.

Toyota recently launched the 2022 model for the Corolla Cross in Japan. It showcases a new and aggressive appearance that one can say, looks more like a proper hybrid vehicle.

Now that the new Toyota model is out, Modellista has once again worked its magic to deliver an even more distinctive finish to the design. The 2022 Toyota Corolla Cross Modellista is available in two packages, namely the Aero Parts Set and Cool Shine Kit.

The Aero Parts Set comes with a front spoiler or lip that creates a low stance finish. At the sides, it is equipped with side skirts, 18-inch alloy wheels, and body-colored wheel fenders. Lastly, the rear end is installed with rear spats that change color depending on the chosen body paint.

Available body color options for the Aero Parts Set include Platinum White Pearl Mica, Attitude Black Mica, and Sparkling Black Pearl Crystal Shine.

Meanwhile, the Cool Shine Kit gets a simpler finish with the addition of a front grille garnish, side door garnish, mirror garnish, door handle garnish, and back door garnish. 17-inch alloy wheels are also offered which come in a two-tone design.

As for the available body color options, the Cool Shine Kit offers more than the Aero Parts Set. These include Platinum White Pearl Mica, Attitude Black Mica, Cement Gray Metallic, Silver Metallic, Sparkling Black Pearl Crystal Shine, Sensual Red Mica, Avant-Garde Bronze Metallic, and Dark Blue Mica Metallic.

The 2022 Toyota Corolla Cross is offered in Japan at a starting price of 1,999,000 Yen (or around Php 908,397) for the base gasoline variant and goes up to 3,199,000 Yen (or around Php 1,453,859) for the top-spec Hybrid AWD variant.

On the other hand, Toyota Taiwan has also launched a GR Sport version of the Corolla Cross that’s equipped with cosmetic and mechanical upgrades. Although, it is still available with the same engine options that could be either a 1.8-liter gasoline engine rated at 140 horsepower and 172 Nm of torque, or a 1.8-liter mill paired with an electric motor for a total output of 120 horsepower. Both are mated to a continuously variable transmission.

The Toyota Corolla Cross is essentially the crossover version of the Corolla Altis. It shares the same TNGA-C platform as its sedan brother, and it has the same selection of powertrains at least for the local market.  

Currently, there are two available variants for the Corolla Cross. The entry-level variant is the Corolla Cross G 1.8 CVT and it has a price tag of Php 1,318,000. The top-spec model meanwhile is the Corolla Cross Hybrid V 1.8 CVT, which can be had for Php 1,680,000. Later in 2023, Toyota PH then added the Corolla Cross GR-S, which is priced at Php 1,844,000.

The Philippine-spec Corolla Cross has two available engine options. For the G-trim, it uses a 1.8-liter inline-4 gasoline engine that can produce up to 138 horsepower and 172 Nm of torque. The V-trim and GR-S in turn both use a 1.8-liter hybrid engine capable of making up to 120 horsepower and 142 Nm of torque. All variants are front-wheel-drive, and all use a continuously variable transmission.  

Size-wise, the Toyota Corolla Cross measures 4,460mm in length, 1,825mm in width, and 1,620mm in height. It also has a wheelbase length of 2,640mm, and a ground clearance of 161 mm. 

Locally, this Toyota-made crossover competes against the likes of the Subaru XV, the Honda HR-V, Ford Territory, Kia Seltos, and the Mazda CX-30
