It shows a more subtle and less aggressive Civic Type R.

As per our recent reports, the all-new 2022 Honda Civic will be making its way to Thailand this year. That piece of news of course came after its launch for the US market.

On that note, the hatch version of the 11th-generation Civic sort of previews the upcoming Honda Civic Type R. Excited fans of the Type R know this, so 3D artist KDesign AG came up with two renderings of what he/she thinks the next-gen Civic Type R will look like.

In general, the render reflects the subtle, and more matured styling of the 2022 Civic. Like the currently available Civic Type R, it still pretty much retains a sporty character. The artist thinks that it will still bear a large angular rear wing, as well as the center triple tailpipe that was present in the current version.

Unlike the current Civic Type R however, the artist gave it less in the way of faux vents. And while the rendering shows a busy-looking rear bumper, it is definitely less so than the one on the current version.

In contrast to the rendering though, recent spy shots of the next-gen Civic Type R have surfaced. Pleasantly enough for those who didn’t prefer the current look of the current model, the said spy pics show an even more subtle design. It even appears less angular than the 3D render.

As for powertrains, reports are speculating that it will be using a turbocharged 2.0-liter mill. As for outputs though, there aren’t many details about that on the internet right now. However, we can expect that it’ll be more powerful than the 306 horsepower that the current Type R’s 2.0-liter is making.

On that end, everything mentioned here, including the rendering, should be taken as speculation. Again, we won’t know exactly how this new Type R will really look until Honda launches it or releases some kind of preview.
