2021 Land Rover Defender 110 bags 5-star safety rating from Euro NCAP

It has won 28 international awards since its comeback.

The Land Rover Defender has furthered solidified its well-rounded qualities whether on the city or off-road by garnering a 5-star safety rating from the European New Car Assessment Program (Euro NCAP). The new Defender, which was unveiled at the 2019 Frankfurt Motor Show, has already won 28 international awards since its comeback.

The Euro NCAP tested a right-hand drive Land Rover Defender 110 2.0 Diesel SE. It was awarded an 85 percent score in the adult and child occupant category, 79 percent score in the safety assist category, and 71 percent score in the vulnerable road users category.

Part of the Defender’s five-star safety rating is its handful of safety features that include six airbags for the driver and passengers, emergency braking, blind-spot assist, three ISOFIX mounting points, 3D surround camera, clear exit monitor, adaptive cruise control, driver condition monitor, lane keep assist, traffic sign recognition and adaptive speed limiter rear collision monitor, rear traffic monitor, and wade sensing.

“From the moment we started creating the new Defender, we were obsessed with functional safety and the protection of both the occupants and other road users,” said Nick Rogers, product engineering executive director at Jaguar, Land Rover.

In consideration of the success the new Defender is accomplishing, the market of the said vehicle is expected to expand further. Locally, Coventry Motors Corporation (CMC), the distributor of Land Rover vehicles in the country, has recently added the diesel engine variant in the PH-spec Defender and is now available for pre-order.

Land Rover Defender

The Land Rover Defender 2023 is a British off-roader vehicle that is available in three configurations, namely the Defender 90 small off-roader, Defender 110 midsize off-roader, and the three-row Defender 130. It is offered with a wide array of variants and accessory packs, with the price being available upon request. There are various available engine options in the country, including D200 and D240 4-cylinder diesel engines, D200, D250, and D300 inline-6 diesel engines, P300 4-cylinder gasoline, P400 inline-6 gasoline, and P525 V8 gasoline engine. All of which are connected to an 8-speed automatic transmission.

Dimensions-wise, the Defender 90 is 4,583 mm long, 2,008 mm wide, and 1,974 mm high. Meanwhile, the Defender 110 spans 5,018 mm in length, 2,008 mm in width, and 1,972 mm in height. Locally, this British off-roader competes against the likes of the Jeep Wrangler and Mercedes-Benz G-Class.
