In addition to the demand for new pickups, many people want to buy used ones. If you are looking for a Toyota pickup in the 1980s to the all-terrain Ram 3500 Cummins, you are looking for one of the best and most practical models. The pickup truck has its own characteristics. Therefore, after consulting with off-road specialists, we would like to offer you this list of 10 components that need to be checked to before buying a used pickup truck in the Philippines.

1. Brake controller

If the pickup truck has traction and an engine with a large torque, check inside the cabin for any brake controller. If any brake controller is founded, there is a high possibility that the pickup previously towed a lot of heavy objects. That's not necessarily a bad thing because most of pick up trucks are designed with traction. However, customers might identify the situation of the pickup by checking its brake controller. Keep in mind that the system of power transmission and towing brackets in long-term use might cause severe damages to the pickup. Therefore, be careful with any car featured with a brake controller.

2. Undercarriage

Whether you are looking for pickup trucks for sale with a high or low undercarriage, keep in mind that both of them might have reached their limit. In terms of an off-road vehicle, look for its undercarriage and check if it has been recently driven off-road or not. Meanwhile, be sure to check a car with low undercarriage as it is difficult to cover scratches on the chassis. If the underlying surface of undercarriage appears to have been repainted, covered or contain new scratches, there may be something suspicious.

3. Coating

Accidents might occur when towing goods, transporting pets or carrying liquid containers. Check the contour between the wheel hub and the hood of the pickup for any paint scratches to see if there have been any signs of damage. Also, check the area between its trunk, cabin, and mudguard.

4. Differentials

It is important to check differentials because they are designed for large pickups with heavier loads. Find out if there is any leakage in the front and back differentials, and always remember to shift all gears a few times to verify their consistency. Also, take the truck to a reliable mechanic for further inspection if possible.

6. Trunk

Always check the joints to see if the trunk has ever been damaged, dismantled, repainted or cleaned. It is a certainty that customers definitely feel unpleased to see the trunk fell down on the road through the rear-view mirror while they are driving.

7. Chassis

A sign of a bent chassis is not good at all. Check the entire chassis to ensure that it is straight and solid. This is especially important for heavy-duty vehicles with heavier loads in difficult terrain such as snow and being driven in off-road conditions. Also, check if the chassis is rusted, has dents, or has recently been replaced with a new one.

8. Tweezers

If a pickup truck has tweezers, remember to check if they have been worn out or not. Take a closer look at the attached bolts and observe the condition of the tweezers in the truck. Sometimes, we can also detect the problem of tweezers just by jumping up and down the trunk.

9. Corrosion

The corrosion is particularly important to consider in an old pickup. Check the center of the trunk and the back of the seats in the cabin to see if there is any sign of significant corrosion. Old pickups like the famous Chevy C-10s are susceptible to corrosion.

10. Hub

A pickup featuring a high-mounted chassis with oversized wheels needs different maintenance methods. Check the drive shaft and related parts carefully. Big tires and wheels easily corrode axles. Therefore, even if a higher undercarriage without the underlying rubber layer, axles must be checked.
