Recently, the Volvo XC40 2018 has made its premiere at the Singapore Motor Show 2018. In this market, the luxury SUV is offered in two variants: the T5 R-Design and T5 Inscription.
The New Volvo XC40: City Living Made Simple
Let’s discuss the powertrain first. Like the name suggests, both two variants pack a T5 AWD powertrain including a Drive-E 2.0-liter 4-cylinder turbocharged engine producing 350 Nm of max torque and 247 hp, paired with an AW TG-81SC 8-speed Geartronic automatic gearbox and an AWD system.

Speaking of the design, the new XC40 looks quite similar to the 40.1 Concept showcased in May 2016. Correspondingly, the exterior comes with a “Thor’s hammer” LED DRLs while the inside is fitted with cleverly-arranged storage to well serve daily basis.

As for the show car, it is the T5 R-Design and certainly, it features R-Design body kit which contains a R-Design front grille decked with sleek black insert, skid plates, C-pillar emblem, dual tailpipe and notably, 20-inch bi-spoke diamond cut alloys.

Stepping inside, the cabin is a perfect combination of aluminum inlays, Lava textile and Black Stone upholstery. Apart from standard amenities including dual-zone climate control, Sensus infotainment system and 12-inch driver display, the R-Design package also provides the cockpit with R-Design badges, gear knob and perforated leather-clad steering wheel.
As for the show car, it features R-Design body kit
Concerning the T5 Momentum (which is not on the stand), it also receives most of styling tweaks of the R-Design. Differences only cover the single tailpipe and a vertical multi-slat grille.

Up to now, it’s still unsure when the Volvo XC40 2018 would hit the Philippine market. That said, its big brother Volvo XC60 has already been rolled out, which is billed as a potential alternative for those who’re into Volvo SUVs but cannot wait for the XC40.
