Finally, the much-awaited Toyota Yaris 2018 is officially available for pre-orders at all Toyota dealerships in the Philippines. Let’s find out if the higher price deserves what this updated Yaris has to offer.
ALL-NEW 2018 Toyota Yaris Hatchback
According to latest car news, the Yaris 2018 has received prominent exterior refreshments. Instead of the handle bar moustache grille, the Vios-based hatchback now features with new larger griller which is set lower and added with more rounded lines. Standard across the range is a set of new halogen headlights together with front fog lights.
Moving to the rear, there are a new rear tail lamps, bumpers and tailgate. There are also a new set of redesigned alloy wheel and the interesting presence of a shark’s fin antenna to keep the car look up to date.

As mentioned in our previous article, 2018 year model welcomes the new top-of-the-line 1.5 S variant to replace the 1.5 G counterpart. This range-topping Yaris could be distinguished from its lower-end variant 1.3 E by a number of exterior details, including:
- Side mirror-mounted turn indicators
- Projector-type headlights
- LED daytime running lights
- Rear LED taillights
- And especially the grille adorned with red accents

Stepping inside, the refreshed Toyota Yaris 2018 comes equipped with a heightened level of convenience. In particular, The Japanese carmaker has given the 5-door hatchback a brand-new dashboard design with a Toyota’s latest 7-inch infotainment screen compatible with CD, MP3, USB, voice control with MirrorLink, Aux, Bluetooth connectivity and most notably, Apple CarPlay. There are also new gauges with controllable illumination.
The interior refinements of the 1.5 S variant is even more substantial with power folding mirrors, automatic climate control, keyless entry featuring push-start system and additional speakers.
Improvements in terms of safety features are also highlights of this new Toyota Yaris. For the 2018 year model, coming as standard on both the 1.5 S and the 1.3 E are anti-lock brakes, 7 airbags and vehicle stability control which is offered with Hill Start Assist function.

The mechanical changes seem subtle when compared with interior and exterior updates. The 1.3 E is powered by 1NR-FE engine, producing 85 hp and 121 Nm of torque, mated to either 5-speed manual or automatic transmission. Meanwhile, driven the 1.5 S is the 2NR-FE engine which is capable of pushing out 107 hp and 141 Nm of torque. This variant is only offered with a CVT and offers paddle shifters and changeable driving modes namely ECO and SPORT. The price of the new Yaris is a bit costlier than that of the pre-facelift version
Staying unchanged in the 2018 year model are the rear Torsion Beam Axle suspension, front Independent MacPherson Struts and tire size. Speaking of brake, while the 1.3 E model is equipped with rear drums, the top-spec 1.5 S is available with disc brakes aerated in the front.
As a result of such prominent improvements, the Toyota Yaris 2018 price is a bit costlier than that of the Toyota Yaris 2017.

Size-wise, the Toyota Yaris measures 4,140mm long, 1,730mm wide, and 1,500mm in height. It also has a wheelbase length of 2,550mm, and a ground clearance of 140mm.
