Toyota Motor Philippines is looking to ramp up its presence in the local crossover market. To do just that, it has recently brought in the all-new 2022 Toyota Raize as its entry into the subcompact crossover segment.

Exterior
To start, the Raize comes in a compact form factor that’s sure to do well within the tight confines of city streets. Specifically, it has a length of 4,030mm, a width of 1,710mm, and a height of 1,605mm. Then again, it also has a ground clearance of 200mm, which can be useful in dealing with the occasional rough bumpy road.

Style-wise, the Raize assumes the current design language followed by contemporary Toyota crossover models. It is sharp-looking, and it comes standard with a pair of LED taillights, and a shark fin antenna.
The top-spec Toyota Raize variant is fitted with LED headlamps, power-folding side mirrors, and a two-tone body paint. The Raize then rides on 16-inch or 17-inch alloy wheels, depending on the variant.

Interior
As with its similarly sized competitors, the Raize can seat up to five occupants. The top-spec 1.0 Turbo CVT and the mid-spec G CVT version also provide a wealth of on-board amenities which include a push to start button, digital gauge cluster, automatic air-conditioning, and a leather-wrapped steering wheel.

The entry-level Raize E MT and E CVT in turn gets manual air-conditioning, a urethane steering wheel, a turn key starter, and an analog gauge cluster.
Tech & Safety
To keep its occupants entertained, the 1.0 Turbo trim is kitted out with a nine-inch headunit, while the G and E trims come with an eight-inch headunit. Both are capable of connecting to smartphones through Apple CarPlay and Android Auto.
On the 1.0 Turbo and G variants is a set of six speakers, while the E variants come standard with four speakers.

Safety-wise, all Toyota Raize variants are equipped with anti-lock braking, stability control, hill-start assist, a child restraint system, an engine immobilizer, and a rear parking sensor.
Both the Raize 1.0 Turbo and the G have a reverse camera. Only the top-spec 1.0 Turbo variant gets driver-assist technologies. These include blind-spot monitoring and rear cross-traffic alert.

For airbags, the E and G trims get two for the front cabin, whereas the top-spec 1.0 Turbo adds on to the front airbags with a side-front airbag, and a curtain shield airbag.
Engine
There are two engine options for the Philippine-spec 2022 Toyota Raize. The more powerful one is found on the top-of-the-line variant, and it’s a 1.0-liter turbocharged inline-3 gasoline mill. At maximum, it can make up to 97 horsepower and 140 Nm of torque.
The G and the E trims meanwhile, use a 1.2-liter inline-3 gasoline engine rated at 87 horsepower and 113 Nm of torque.

Toyota Raize Launch
The Toyota Raize Philippines is a rebadged version of the Daihatsu Rocky. It was first unveiled at the 46th Tokyo Motor Show back in 2019.
Development on this model, however, started as far back as 2017. From the get-go, it was based on Daihatsu’s DNGA platform, which primarily focuses on Kei cars and city car models.
It was then introduced to the Philippine market in January 2022.
Toyota Raize Exterior
When it comes to size, the Toyota Raize is 4,030mm long, 1,710mm wide, and 1,605mm in height. It then has a wheelbase length of 2,525mm. It then offers a ground clearance of 200mm.
For the top-spec variant and the G variant, these come standard with a pair of split-type LED headlamps. All trims though, are equipped with daytime running lights, and halogen fog lamps.
Other exterior features present on the top-spec Raize and the Raize G include auto-folding side mirrors, and a sharkfin antenna, among others. This subcompact crossover will then ride on a set of 16-inch or 17-inch wheels depending on the trim.

Inside, the Toyota Raize can seat up to five occupants. Depending on the trim, it either gets leather-clad seats or fabric-covered seats. The rear seats are also split folding. Moreover, it also offers a tilt-adjustable steering column. Some trims also have a push-to-start button, as well as automatic climate control.
Technology and Safety Features
For tech, the Toyota Raize has a nine-inch headunit with Apple CarPlay and Android Auto. It also has two USB charging ports. The said headunit is then linked up to a six-piece speaker system.
