The Toyota Raize is the first surprise the Japanese marque will give this year to Filipino car buyers. In fact, local Toyota dealerships have now started receiving reservations for the brand’s new subcompact crossover. This information was confirmed by various outlets including volleyball star Alyssa Valdez.

Valdez announced on her official Instagram account that customers can now reserve for the Raize as early as now with the hashtag #RaizeTheGame. She is seen standing next to the small crossover covered in what seems to be a two-tone exterior paint consisting of a Black Mica Metallic roof and Turquoise Blue Mica Metallic body.

The upcoming PH-spec Toyota Raize will reportedly come with a ground clearance rated at 200mm, making it ideal for rough roads. Depending on the variant, the exterior can be fitted with split-type LED headlamps, power-folding side mirrors, and a choice of either a 16- or 17-inch alloy wheel.

Even the interior gets a handful of features including a fully digital instrument cluster, a touchscreen head unit equipped with Apple CarPlay and Android Auto, leather seats, and 60/40 split-fold rear seats. Safety-wise, the model is installed with six airbags, anti-lock brakes (ABS) with electronic brakeforce distribution (EBD), blind-spot monitoring, among others.Toyota Raize front view

The non-turbo power unit makes 87 horsepower and 113 Nm of torque, while the other delivers more power at 97 horsepower and 140 Nm of torque. Included in the gearbox options are a 5-speed manual or a continuously variable transmission (CVT).

Toyota Motor Philippines (TMP) hasn’t put out a word just yet regarding the official launch date of the new Raize. Interested individuals can expect a price of Php 746,000 for the base 1.2 E MT and Php 1,031,000 for the top-spec 1.0 Turbo CVT, with a Php 15,000 option for the White Pearl Crystal Shine.

Toyota Raize

The Toyota Raize is a subcompact crossover for the Philippine market. It is a rebadged version of the Daihatsu Rocky, which was first introduced back in 2019 at the Tokyo Motor Show.

For the Philippines, the Raize is offered in four variants. Toyota Raize price range starts at Php 751,000 for the entry-level Raize E MT variant, to Php 1,063,000 for the top-spec Raize Turbo CVT variant.

The Raize has two engine options. Under the hood of the E and G trims is a 1.2-liter inline-3 engine capable of making up to 87 horsepower and 113 Nm of torque. It is then paired with a continuously variable transmission, or a five-speed manual gearbox. The top-spec version then uses a 1.0-liter turbocharged engine making 97 horsepower and 140 Nm of torque. It is then paired with a CVT. For all variants, power is then sent to its front wheels.

Size-wise, the Toyota Raize is 4,030mm long, 1,710mm wide, and 1,605mm high. It then has a wheelbase length of 2,525mm, and a ground clearance of 200mm.

Locally, the Toyota Raize competes against the likes of the MG ZS, Ford EcoSport, Kia Stonic, Mazda CX-3, Geely Coolray, among others.
