The Toyota Hiace 2019 has recently made its global debut in the Philippines. This is the first time our country hosts a world car release for an all-new model.
Walking around, the next-gen Hiace looks sleeker, wider and longer with significant changes, new techs and a stronger turbo-diesel engine. As mentioned in the previous post, the van now comes with a new face and hood. The new Hiace is inspired by the more premium Toyota Alphard, receiving a new elegant set of headlamps as well as a fresh bumper and grille.
Besides, the all-new Toyota Hiace 2019 is also equipped with new alloy wheels and tweaked side mirrors on higher-level versions. Meanwhile, the rear gets a new tailgate and bigger tail lamps. Speaking of the van’s size, it now measures 5265mm in length, 1950mm in width and 1990mm in height, along with a 3210mm wheelbase.

Stepping inside, the all-new Toyota Hiace Philippines showcases a refreshed dashboard and cabin which comes with 15 seats for the commuter version,12 seats for the GL and 14 seats for the GL Tourer variant. The dashboard now receives modified instrument panel, new standard 2-DIN sound system and HVAC controls.
Under the hood, the Toyota Hiace 2019 is powered by a 2.8L 1GD-FTV 4-cylinder turbo-diesel powertrain derived from the Innova and Fortuner. And now, the engine is placed ahead of the cabin, not under the front passengers and the driver.
The engine is capable of cranking out 174 hp and 420 Nm of torque while the GL Grandia version can produce 174 hp and 450 Nm of torque. It comes as a surprise that the 1GD mill can dole out 163 Nm and 420 Nm, which is less than the "standard" Commuter Deluxe and GL Grandia. A 6-speed automatic and a 6-speed manual are options for the van’s transmission.

As for safety features, all versions of the Hiace are equipped with ABS (anti-lock brakes), the Tourer and GL Grandia variants get 2 front airbags while the Commuter Deluxe variant receives 3 units.
