The automaker plans to export the model from India.

Honda launched a new addition to its crossover lineup, called the Elevate. The said crossover is offered in India, and it is said to be designed with SUV-like proportions.

It joins the Japanese automaker’s lineup with a rugged boxy design, as well as the brand’s Advanced Driver Assistance System (ADAS), the Honda Sensing.

Exterior

The Honda Elevate spans 4,312mm in length, 1,790mm in width, and 1,650mm in height. It is 73 mm shorter than the Honda HR-V, but has an edge in terms of height by 60mm. Additionally, the ground clearance rated at 220mm is significant in comparison to its class.

The Elevate is looking beefy

Despite its subcompact crossover size, the Elevate looks beefy and bold thanks to the boxy body, black wheel fenders, and straight character lines. Other exterior bits include LED taillights, 17-inch two-tone finish diamond cut alloy wheels, a sunroof, and a two-tone paint scheme with a black roof.

Interior

Moving into the interior, the cabin instead gets a composed approach than the exterior with a two-tone color scheme between brown and black. Honda said the 2,650mm wheelbase allowed the vehicle to offer “spacious headroom, knee room, and legroom, resulting in overwhelmingly spacious interior cabin."

The automaker also claims the Elevate has a cargo space measuring 458 liters. Fold the second-row seats down and owners can load more items including bicycles. This is ideal for overnight camping trips, which the vehicle can deliver thanks to its relatively tall ride height.

Tech & Safety

On top of the dashboard is a 10.25-inch infotainment touchscreen that supports wireless Apple CarPlay and Android Auto. It is also equipped with a seven-inch full-color TFT multi-information gauge cluster, which displays information with white light and a black background.

The Honda Sensing package in the Elevate comes with Collision Mitigation Braking System (CMBS), Adaptive Cruise Control, Road Departure Mitigation (RDM), Lane Keeping Assist System (LKAS), Lead Car Departure Notification, and Auto High-Beam.

Engine

As speculated in our report regarding the Honda Elevate before the launch, the new model does use the same 1.5-liter i-VTEC DOHC gasoline engine found in the City and BR-V. It is capable of generating 119 horsepower and 145 Nm of torque.

The engine can be paired to either a 6-speed manual transmission or a continuously variable transmission (CVT).

Honda is offering the Elevate in the Indian market only. But the automaker said that it is a global model so exports from India are scheduled in the coming years.

It is still unclear which markets will get the new subcompact crossover. But it would be interesting to how the Elevate would run alongside the HR-V in the same market locally. This is a similar approach by Kia Philippines with its Stonic and Seltos.
