All-new Volkswagen Jetta 2019 debuts at Detroit

It’s finally come.

​The 7th-gen Volkswagen Jetta 2019 has finally been rolled out at the ongoing 2018 Detroit Auto Show. This C-segment sedan, besides following the brand’s signature styling direction, will come with a plethora of updates and technologies.

To commence with, the front fascia is significantly refreshed. Specifically, the rectangular theme covering the outgoing model’s face has disappeared to make room for a new more dynamic one which is decked with a wider 3-slat grille bordered by larger headlights with C-shaped LED daytime running lights as well as more character lines in the bumper. Plus, the hood is also given more defined lines.

Overall, the new Jetta is taller, longer and wider than its predecessor. Taking a first look at the sedan, you can immediately spot a wider stance together with sharper character line following through the door handles. In addition to that, a third side rear window also seems to make the new Jetta look longer.

Inside, owing to expanded size, the Volkswagen Jetta 2019 interior receives more room when compared to the 6th-gen model. Notably, the cockpit features the Driver Personalization as standard with 4 driver settings in total. Along with this, a host of customizable features is also fully set up including driver assistance system preferences, driver seat memory, temperature, radio presets, ambient lighting color and navigation view, etc.

The dashboard is also revised to be more driver-oriented. In detail, the center stack is currently placed closer to the car’s pilot. Most noticeable in the dash is the brand’s Digital Cockpit display which provides you with key data (especially in navigation), MirrorLink and Apple CarPlay/Android Auto. More premium soft-touch materials are present throughout the cockpit in the company of trapezoidal design theme.

Under the sheet metal is a 1.4L 4-cylinder TSI (Turbo Stratified Injection) engine producing 147 PS and 250 Nm. The power is sent to the wheels via either a 6-speed automatic gearbox or a 6-speed manual.
