Hyundai has recently trademarked the name of Hyundai Palisade 2018 for its new 8-seat SUV.

As mentioned in the previous article, an 8-seat Hyundai SUV is being built to sit above the Santa Fe. At present, the new SUV hasn’t got an official name yet. However, according to the latest car news, Hyundai has trademarked a name for its new car with the US Patent and Trademark Office. Now we can call it - the “Hyundai Palisade”.

Hyundai has trademarked the name "Palisade" for its new car with the US Patent and Trademark Office

The name means a strong wooden or iron fence pillar used to guard a place or person against being attacked. It seems to be matched with this large and athletic 8-seat Hyundai SUV.

Still, there is little information about the new Hyundai Palisade, but some reports reveal that it will be developed by the identical platform to the Kia Telluride concept’s production variant. Accordingly, it is likely a 3-row SUV powered by a petrol engine without all-wheel drive system.

Tech and Safety

Most improvements on the refreshed model concern the Palisade’s tech features. For starters, it gets a revamped digital gauge cluster, as well as a better wireless charging pad. The infotainment system has also grown to 12 inches, and it now has more integration for a variety of gadgets.

For safety, this Hyundai-made crossover is kitted out with adaptive cruise control, forward collision assist, rear-cross traffic collision-avoidance assist (PCA-R), and plenty of other safety features. It also gets additional airbags as well.

Hyundai Palisade Chassis

The 2024 Hyundai Palisade is a midsize crossover. It still shares a platform with the Kia Telluride, and it uses a MacPherson strut for the front and a multi-link with self-leveling shock absorbers for the rear. It then uses disc brakes for all four wheels, as well as an electronic parking brake.

Hyundai Palisade Engine

The upcoming Palisade is likely to get the same 2.2-liter CRDi engine that was present on the pre-facelift version. At most, this mill can churn out 197 horsepower and 440 Nm of torque.

In other markets where it was released though, it is also available with a 3.8-liter V6 engine that can make 291 horsepower and 355 Nm of torque.
