This particular project was initiated by NLEX Corp. earlier this year, and it cost the company a total of Php 150 million. This was deemed necessary to mitigate the risk of flooding on the 640-meter stretch of SCTEX Dinalupihan.

The main component of this project includes increasing road elevation by 1.8 meters. The company also installed new box culverts and drainage structure to help drain water more efficiently. It also ensures that one can drive through the area unharmed even during harsh weather conditions. Certain areas were also planted with vetiver grass as a means to reduce soil erosion.

According to NLEX Corp. President and General Manager J. Luigi L. Bautista, the raising of this section of SCTEX provides “safer journeys to our motorists.” He further added that it also enables “our infrastructure to be more efficient and capable of withstanding severe weather events in the future.”

Besides the completion of the road raising project at Dinalupihan, the NLEX Corp. also finished the installation of lighting and safety devices along the length of road between SCTEX Dinalupihan Spur and Hermosa, Bataan. This was made possible by a partnership between NLEX Corp. and the local government of Hermosa.

This particular project covers around two kilometers of road, and new installations will provide better safety during nighttime driving. Specific equipment added to the said road includes bollards, directional signages, light poles, and reflectorized metal strips.

Both of these projects are good indicators of the company’s commitment to safety. The local government officials, namely Hermosa Mayor Antonio Joseph Inton, and Dinalupihan Vice Mayor Fernando Manalili had also expressed their gratification with regards to the road improvements.
