Chinese technology company Honor has unveiled a slick-looking smartphone that was designed in partnership with Porsche Design.

Known as the Porsche Design Honor Magic V2 RSR, it gets the distinction of being one of the thinnest foldable phones ever made. When the phone is folded, it is 9.9mm thick. When unfolded, it is a mere 4.7mm thick. Compare that to the Samsung Z Fold 5’s folded thickness of 13.4mm.

Style-wise, the fancy-looking device employs lines that are reminiscent of the hood of a Porsche 911. It also uses Porsche’s Agate Grey color and a secure grip feel which Honor says echoes the sportiness of the German carmaker’s athletic vehicles.

Other interesting bits about the Magic V2 RSR phone are its ultra-light weight of 234 grams, and its anti-scratch NanoCrystal glass surfaces. Thanks to the latter, the tech company says the new smartphone’s displays are durable and resistant to damage.

The smartphone also has a silicon-carbon battery with a 5000 mAh capacity, up to 120 Hz refresh rates for its screens, 16 gigabytes of RAM, a one terabyte storage capacity, and a Snapdragon 8 Gen 2 chip. Of note, this is the same chip that’s currently in use on the Samsung S23 Ultra flagship model.

For those curious, the Porsche Design Honor Magic V2 RSR is already sold in China, Europe, and the UK. In its home market, it is already available for orders at 15,999 Yuan or Php 126,741 at current exchange rates. For now, Honor Philippines is yet to launch this luxury phone for the local market.

As a side note, Porsche Design is no stranger to designing electronic devices. Last year, the company teamed up with Microsoft to make six limited edition examples of the Xbox Series X

Other tech companies that previously worked together with Porsche Design include AOC, Garmin, Huawei, and Blackberry, among others.

The last time the German company was involved in making a smartphone was with the Huawei Mate 40 RS Porsche Design. This older phone came out in 2020.
