They now have until November 30, 2022.

The Land Transportation Office (LTO) announced another registration validity extension for motor vehicles. This time, those cars with plates ending in “9” will now have until November 30, 2022 to renew their registrations.

The announcement for the registration extension for cars with plates ending in "9"

Like the previous announcements of the like, this is valid nationwide. Motorcycles and all other types of motor vehicles are also included in the extension.

On the Facebook post for the said announcement, the LTO also answered several questions posted by commenters. One of these addressed what to do while still lacking a proper license plate. In this case, one should refer to the date on the Official Receipt (OR).

For instance, if the said registration is indicated on the OR to expire in September 2022, then this allows for an extension until November 30, 2022.

For cars with plates ending in “0”, they still have until November 30, 2022 to renew their registrations as well. This is based on the previous extension which was announced by the said agency back in August 2022.

Those with plates ending in “8” however, only had until October 31, 2022. That said, this registration extension for the said ending number has already lapsed.

Still, it might be a good idea to renew your vehicle's registration a bit earlier than the stated deadline

Also, note that cars registered during the recently announced extension period will not be subjected to penalties. Well, unless a car’s registration validity has already lapsed beyond the given extension periods.

The LTO is also yet to provide an announcement for an additional extension for driver’s licenses, conductor’s licenses, and student permits that are expiring this month.

In this recent announcement, the LTO didn’t exactly provide a reason for the extension. It can however, be attributed to the still lingering threat of COVID-19. There’s also the fact that some regions in Visayas and Mindanao have been recently hit hard by Typhoon Paeng.
