The Chamber of Automotive Manufacturers of the Philippines (CAMPI) and the Truck Manufacturers Association (TMA) have reported that the local automotive market saw a total of 109,606 units sold in the first quarter of 2024.
Toyota gets top spot in terms of sales for the first quarter of 2024
In further breaking down that number, 81,395 of those were commercial vehicles, while 28,211 units were passenger cars. This represents a 12.7 percent increase compared to the same period last year (first quarter of 2023).
But while industry-wide growth has increased on a year-to-date basis, this year’s March sales seem to have slowed down compared to February 2023. For context, March 2024 saw 34,474 units sold, while February 2024 saw 38,072.
With regards to the top five brands for the first quarter of 2024, Toyota remains on top with 49,667 car units sold. This is followed by Mitsubishi with 20,867 units sold, Nissan with 7,909 units sold, Ford with 7,531 units sold, and Suzuki with 4,395 units sold.
Mitsubishi likewise saw an excellent Q1 2024 with 20,867 units sold

Of note, this latest auto sales performance report shows that the local car market has already achieved 23 percent of CAMPI’s forecast of 468,300 units sold in 2024.
