This shows the company’s commitment to growing sustainability.

Omoda plans to grow its electrification campaign with the all-electric version of the Omoda 5 coming to the Philippines later this year. But aside from its upcoming model lineup, the company also rolls an “Eco Ride” charity event, which likewise fits its goals in promoting low-carbon travel and green living.

Omoda held an eco-friendly charity event called Eco Ride

Held at Omoda’s headquarters in Wuhu, China, the charity event was attended by Omoda users, partners, and media friends from more than 30 countries. This activity promotes a low-emission, active lifestyle, which  the Chinese automaker hopes will propel “the automotive industry onto a longer and further road of sustainability development.”

The participants rode bicycles and ran around Shen Shan Park. Upon reaching the finish line, they were awarded customized commemorative medals. The “Eco Ride” charity event is part of the larger “2023 Omoda International User Eco-Creation Conference.”

The conference was held from October 15 to 19 to showcase the brand’s initiatives for a more sustainable future. One of which was the unveiling of Omoda’s third-gen PHEV (plug-in hybrid electric vehicle) technology platform capable of supporting ChatGPT.

In its own manufacturing processes, Omoda says that it uses environmentally-friendly materials and advanced technologies which are said to achieve lower production energy consumption and higher recycling rates. It is a similar approach to other automakers like Kia, which uses a wide array of sustainable materials for the EV9.

Omoda also signed a strategic cooperation memorandum with the International Union for Conservation of Nature (IUCN) to take its green efforts up a notch.

Locally, the upcoming Omoda 5 electric vehicle (EV) will champion the brand’s goals for sustainability with a zero-emission powertrain. The Extended Range variant will be capable of offering Filipino car buyers a range of up to 450 km on a single charge. It can also generate 201 horsepower and 400 Nm of torque using a permanent magnet synchronous motor.

Omoda is expected to make its Philippine debut before the year ends, with the first batch of the brand’s compact crossover now on our shores. The company will arrive alongside sister brand Jaecoo, which will offer off-road-oriented models.
