The North Luzon Expressway Corporation (NLEX Corp.) will be implementing a new toll fare matrix effective June 15, 2023. This is an increase over its old toll rates, and it comes after the approval of the Toll Regulatory Board (TRB).
Heading north this month? Then better take note of these toll price hikes
This was announced on NLEX Corp’s official social media pages. The post then details that tolls on NLEX’s open systems will increase by Php 7.00, while closed systems will see an increase of Php 0.36.
For your reference, NLEX’s open systems include the ones in Navotas, Valenzuela, and the ones stretching from Caloocan to Marilao, Bulacan. The closed systems meanwhile, consist of the ones between Bocaue, Bulacan, and Sta. Ines, Mabalacat City, Pampanga including the Subic-Tipo route.
Here’s a table of the new NLEX toll fees effective June 15, 2023:
Class |
Open System - Balintawak, Navotas, Caloocan, Valenzuela to Marilao |
End-to-end - Balintawak to Sta. Ines, Mabalacat, Pampanga. |
Class 1 |
Php 69 |
Php 332 |
Class 2 |
Php 172 |
Php 829 |
Class 3 |
Php 206 |
Php 995 |
As seen in the table above, the increase in toll fees will in turn raise the total cost of end-to-end travel on NLEX. The company says that going from the start to the end of the toll road for class 1 vehicles is now Php 33 more expensive. End-to-end travel on NLEX for Class 2 and Class 3 vehicles meanwhile, will see a toll price hike of Php 81 and Php 98, respectively.
The toll fee hike was approved by the TRB
As mentioned above, NLEX Corp. has gained the proper approval from the TRB for the increased rates. It is also a part of the company’s periodic adjustments that were scheduled back in 2012, 2014, 2018, and 2020.
With regard to the reasoning behind this toll rate increase, NLEX added that this is its way to “help curb the existing inflationary situation and cushion their impact on the users of the expressway.”
