Nissan is gearing up for the 2023 Japan Mobility Show (JMS), formerly the Tokyo Motor Show, from October 25 to November 8. The carmaker will be showcasing several cars at the 2023 JMS that include a number of electric vehicle concepts such as the Nissan Hyper Urban.

The Hyper Urban electric vehicle (EV) concept is among the series of all-electric Nissan concepts that will be displayed at the 2023 JMS. The Japanese automaker will be revealing more of its JMS-bound EV concepts in the coming days before the show kicks off.

At first glance, one can easily describe the Nissan Hyper Urban EV concept as an aggressive EV thanks to the razor-sharp character lines found all over the vehicle. The exterior design also gives the impression that it’s the more modern version of the Nissan Ariya all-electric crossover. It’s as if the Nissan Hyper Urban EV concept is an Ariya on steroids.

Nissan said that the Hyper Urban concept is characterized by modern aesthetics as well as showcasing the brand’s future EV design and technological capabilities. Well, it’s not that difficult to agree with Nissan when talking about the Hyper Urban’s modern aesthetics, which is evidently seen in the concept’s overall design.

It features a contemporary front lighting system that’s complemented by a segmented fascia as well as an angular bumper in gloss black. The Hyper Urban concept also comes with a lime yellow exterior paint that changes chromatically depending on the angle of light, according to Nissan.

Turning to the side, the EV concept features crisp character lines and a high beltline, which makes the windows look smaller than conventional production spec vehicles. It also has front and rear scissor doors, giving a sense of openness.

The rear looks as aggressive as the entire vehicle. It is fitted with full-width taillights, which dominate the Nissan Hyper Urban’s rear end. The EV concept also comes with a large angular bumper, and the play of lines can be seen on the rear as well as on the glass roof. Meanwhile, wide tires complete the overall assertive exterior look.

Inside, the Nissan Hyper Urban has a modern appeal, which is highlighted by the Tron-like cabin lights. The carmaker added that the concept’s cabin is inspired by kaleidoscopic triangles while the instrument panel and the display can be customized according to the owner’s mood. The front seats, on the other hand, can collapse and fold into the back seats, which creates a sofa-like configuration.

Nissan also mentioned that the Hyper Urban EV concept is integrated with the Vehicle-to-Home (V2H) function, which has the capability to provide power to the home, similar to what the Ford F-150 Lighting can do.

Not just that, the concept also has the Vehicle-to-Grid (V2G) capability, which can feed power to run a home or a commercial site or to feed power back to the grid. The Nissan LEAF also comes with the said feature. In fact, in the Philippines, the Nissan LEAF once lit up a 50-foot Christmas tree.

The Nissan Hyper Urban concept is also supported with hardware and software updates, providing up-to-date and optimized ownership experience over many years.

Other cars that will be on display at Nissan’s booth at the 2023 JMS are the following: Ariya, GT-R NISMO special edition, Z NISMO, Skyline NISMO, and Formula E race car.

It will also be bringing several 90th Anniversary models such as the LEAF, Sakura, X-Trail, Kicks, Serena, and Aura.
