The Traffic and Parking Management Office (TPMO) announced that a portion of Ninoy Aquino Ave. (Northbound and Southbound) near Imelda Bridge will be temporarily closed from August 19 to 22, 2022. This decision was made to pave the way for the construction of the Light Rail Transit Line 1 (LRT-1) Cavite’s Ninoy Aquino Station.

Northbound

  1. Right turn to Old Sucat Rd. (front of SM Sucat) to C5 Extension Road to Multinational to Ninoy Aquino Ave. (Duty Free).
  2. Left turn to Kabihasnan (Victor Medina St.) to Quirino Ave., or CAVITEX Coastal Rd.

Southbound

  1. Left turn to Multinational to C5 Extension Rd. to AMVEL to Ninoy Aquino Ave. (Air Force One/PCP Station 3) OR left turn to Multinational to    C5 Extension Rd. to Old Sucat Rd. Exit (Head Quarters/Brgy. San Dionisio Hall) to U-turn at Palanyag.
  2. Quirino Ave. to Kabihasnan (Victor Medina St.) to Ninoy Aquino Ave.

TMPO Chief Reynaldo Murillo and Deputy Donald Matias, in coordination with the Metropolitan Manila Development Authority (MMDA), already conducted an ocular inspection around Ninoy Aquino Ave. last August 16. They have set up barricades and issued road public advisories relating to the temporary road closures.

Expect heavy traffic from August 19 to 22 around the construction area

The construction of the Ninoy Aquino Station is part of the LRT-1’s extension program from Baclaran to Bacoor, Cavite. Spanning 11.7 kilometers in length, the extension will pass through the cities of Parañaque, Las Piñas, and Bacoor. Upon completion, the project is expected to reduce the Baclaran to Cavite travel time from the current one hour and 10 minutes to just 25 minutes.

In addition, the LRT-1 will be connected to the Unified Grand Central Station located in North EDSA, Quezon City. This railway station will interconnect the LRT-1 (Light Rail Transit Line 1), MRT-3 (Metro Rail Transit Line 3), MRT-7 (Metro Rail Transit Line 7), and the Metro Manila Subway.
