The next-gen Volvo infotainment system now receives a Google Integration yet is still based on Android system, under the cooperation between the two sides as announced last year.
Accordingly, Volvo will integrate a range of Google features right inside the vehicle, providing some services like Google Play Store, Google Assistant and Google Maps. The Google Assistant service will offer a concentrated interface, providing drivers with series of functions in the car including music player, air conditioning and sending messages without distracting drivers. Besides, there are a number of additional apps which are optimized for using via Android Auto.

The Volvo infotainment system with a Google Integration will allow the app store of the technology company to keep its various applications and in-car software up-to-date, providing motorists with the most excellent predictive services. Meanwhile, Google Maps will offer Volvo cars the most up-to-date maps and real-time traffic data.
The 1st Android-based infotainment system will be released a few years later. Even with the cooperation, Volvo still plans to maintain developing its own connected services, software and apps.
