The Mercedes-Benz GLC recently got a mid-cycle refresh that made it even more innovative and more competitive against its ever-growing rivals. With that in mind, Mercedes-Benz Philippines decided to share four reasons as to why the GLC should be considered by Filipino car buyers.

1. Luxury SUV characteristics

From the exterior to the interior, the Mercedes-Benz GLC is undoubtedly a premium model on the go. The recent redesign gave a subtle yet noteworthy improvement on the design to make it look more luxurious. Meanwhile, the interior comes with a smooth flowing cabin layout that offers a plush driving experience.

2. Mercedes-Benz User Experience (MBUX)

New to the compact luxury crossover SUV is the addition of the Mercedes-Benz User Experience (MBUX). It is designed to provide convenience to occupants, offering Apple CarPlay, Android Auto, and ‘Hey Mercedes’ Voice Control. One can say that the MBUX is a class-leading infotainment system in the global market.

3. Rugged aesthetics

Despite the model’s luxurious appeal, the German automaker still managed to integrate rugged SUV elements to the finish. Some of which include 18-inch 5-spoke light-alloy wheels, distinct radiator grille, and revamped multibeam LED headlights. This makes the vehicle look like it is ready for any challenge on the road.

4. Dynamic GLC driving experience

Under the hood, the Mercedes-Benz GLC is powered by a 2.0-liter inline-4 gasoline engine that makes 197 hp and 320 Nm of torque. It is paired with a 9G-TRONIC 9-speed automatic transmission to provide power and efficiency. The brand claims that the compact luxury crossover SUV is capable of delivering a 14.5 to 15.2 km/l combined fuel efficiency rating.

Mercedes-Benz GLC-Class Launch

The Mercedes-Benz GLC-Class was first introduced by Auto Nation Group in September 2018. It initially came out in three variants which are the GLC 200 as the base variant, the GLC 220d, and the top-spec AMG 4Matic. A facelifted version of the GLC was released in the latter part of 2019, which is the currently marketed 200 FL Exclusive variant.

The crossover sports an athletic yet sophisticated vibe, much comparable to the C-Class but comes with more height and width. Among the upgraded features of the GLC-Class are the front grille and the rear designs. They have been refreshed to a more modern look compared to the previous generation GLC’s fascia styling. Multi-beam LED headlamps and LED daytime running lamps are flanked on the chrome-accentuated front grille. The rear gets LED taillights and a new skid plate like the front. The Mercedes-Benz GLC rides on 18-inch light alloy wheels.

Technology & Safety Features

The 2024 Mercedes-Benz GLC-Class comes with a 12.3-inch TFT panel which is becoming a standard among the German brand’s new-generation models. The infotainment system houses the Mercedes-Benz User Experience (MBUX) which enables the driver to activate the vehicle’s features through voice command. Among its many capabilities are hands-free climate adjustment, song selection, and making phone calls. It is essentially an interactive infotainment system that can be activated by saying “Hey, Mercedes.” Audio comes out of a Burmester surround sound system.

Among its slew of safety features are a rearview camera, front and rear parking sensors, active park assist, self-parking mode, an all-digital instrument display, ABS with EBD and brake assist, and a tire pressure monitoring system.

Platform & Chassis

The 5-seater crossover is engineered based on the C-Class platform. It is equipped with a multi-link suspension for both the front and rear. Stopping power comes from ventilated discs all over. The Mercedes-Benz GLC’s platform and suspension are primarily oriented towards city driving conditions.

Engine & Drivetrain

Under the hood is a 2.0-liter turbocharged inline-four gasoline engine that produces up to 197 hp and 320 Nm of torque. The engine is mated to a 9G-Tronic nine-speed automatic transmission that sends power exclusively to the rear wheels.

Available colors for the Mercedes-Benz GLC are Selenite Grey, Polar White, Obsidian Black, Mojave Silver, Iridium Silver, Hyacinth Red, Graphite Grey, and Brilliant Blue.

Sold under one variant, the Mercedes-Benz GLC-Class has one of the highest base prices in comparison to its rivals such as the Volvo XC60 and BMW X3.
