1993 Mazda RX-7 driven by Vin Diesel in Fast & Furious up for auction

The Fast and the Furious franchise has been running for over a decade now, bringing a generation of die-hard fans. For those who have been supporting the saga from the get-go, Mecum Auctions may have something that could delight them.

1993 Mazda RX-7

Mecum is auctioning off a 1993 Mazda RX-7 that was used by Dominic Toretto (played by Vin Diesel) in the franchise’s first installment. The estimated value of the auctioned car is between USD 175,000 and USD 250,000 (around Php 9.798 million to Php 13.997 million).

The 1993 Mazda RX-7 was built by Eddie Paul for Universal Studios for the Fast and the Furious movie. An estimated USD 40,000 (Php 2.239 million) in maintenance has been spent for maintaining this vehicle. This includes engine and transmission work, new wiring, and tires.

The first Mazda RX-7 in the saga

Specs-wise, the Mazda RX-7 is fitted with Red and Black Sparco racing seats, Versus body kit, a J-spec fiberglass hood, a set of 18-inch Ro_Ja 5-spoke wheels, Modern Image Yellow exterior graphics, and a flamethrower exhaust.

Powering the sports car is a 1.3-liter 13B twin-turbocharged rotary engine capable of generating 255 horsepower. The person who will win the auction would have to maneuver the vehicle using a 5-speed manual transmission.

Mecum is auctioning the 1993 Mazda RX-7 at the Indy Auction 2023 this month in Indianapolis. The sale will include the outfit worn by Orange Julius, and paperwork documenting the VIN and use of this car for the first two F&F films.

This vehicle is just one of the RX-7s in the Fast and the Furious franchise. Another version is the 1997 Mazda RX-7 Veilside owned by Han Lue (played by Sung Kang). It makes more power, producing 306 horsepower.

The story continues as Fast X is slated to hit cinemas on May 19, 2023. It will see new characters joining the universe including Dante Reyes (Jason Momoa), Tess (Brie Larson), Aimes (Alan Richtson), and a street car racer played by Daniela Melchior.
