Mazda Philippines announced that it has officially introduced the BT-50 4x4 Pangolin Edition 2 into its lineup.
Mazda BT-50 4x4 Pangolin Edition 2
If the name sounds familiar, the Mazda BT-50 4x4 Pangolin Edition 2 is a follow-up to the first Pangolin Edition of the midsize pickup released in 2020. It coincides with Mazda Philippines’ decision to extend its partnership with Katala Foundation, a non-profit Philippine NGO that aims to protect and conserve threatened endemic wildlife.
“The Mazda BT-50 brought unrivaled design, comfort, and capability to the popular pickup truck segment when we launched it in November 2021. One year later, it is only appropriate that we mark its anniversary with the return of the BT-50 4x4 Pangolin Edition 2,” said Mazda Philippines President and CEO Steven Tan.
It comes with exterior additions
Included in the Pangolin Edition 2 package are exterior bits that add ruggedness such as 18-inch ROTA gloss black alloy wheels, fender flares, a fashion bar, and a bed cover revolver. It also comes with a tailgate assist feature that can help you load cargo into the bed easier without damaging the tailgate.
Since the new edition is based on the top-of-the-line BT-50 variant, it has a 3.0-liter inline-4 turbodiesel engine that sends power to all four wheels via a 6-speed automatic transmission. The power unit is capable of generating 187 horsepower and 450 Nm of torque.
“After listening to customer feedback, we have created the BT-50 4x4 Pangolin Edition 2, which builds on the BT-50’s core strengths. Like the first BT-50 Pangolin, it is also an acknowledgment of the important role we have in preserving the delicate balance of our environment as we go about our daily lives,” added Tan.
Functionality has also been improved
The first 100 customers getting the Mazda BT-50 3.0 4x4 AT (priced at Php 1,790,000) can have their units upgraded to the Pangolin Edition 2 for just Php 68,000 more. It is available in all of the BT-50’s exterior paint options, namely Concrete Gray, Gun Blue Metallic, Volcanic Red, Rock Gray, Icy White, Silver Ingot, and True Black.

While its roots are apparent in its general body shape, the third-gen BT-50 was provided with characteristics that are uniquely Mazda.
