It is bound to be the brand’s second SUV after the Levante.

Maserati announced that the Grecale will make its global debut sometime in November this year. It was supposed to be out earlier than the said date, but was delayed due to the pandemic.

To spread the word out to the public, the Italian automaker hoisted the name of its new model on the Maserati Multi 70, a trimaran developed by engineers of Modena Innovation Lab engineers. The new crossover/SUV is named after a world-famous wind just like every model from the car brand.

Maserati has been careful to not spoil details of its new crossover/SUV model. But we got an early impression of what the Grecale might look like based on teaser shots and its test drive in blue camouflage. Stellantis CEO Carlos Tavares took the SUV out for a ride after visiting the brand’s factory in Italy.

The arrival of the new SUV is announced in Maserati fashion

The shape of the body is unmistakably a Maserati as it poses a similar layout as its SUV sibling, the Levante. Exterior feature details that make the SUV look like a high-performance vehicle include a distinct-looking grille, honeycomb mesh inserts for the front bumper air intakes, a small roof spoiler, and quad exhaust pipes.

As said earlier, no official specifications of the Maserati Grecale have been revealed just yet so we can’t be sure of the interior and safety features of the SUV as of this writing.

More details are expected to be out days before its release

No hints for the powertrain are rolled out as well. However, one can expect that it could be powered by a 2.0-liter mild-hybrid powertrain as standard. A 3.0-liter twin-turbocharged V6 engine will also be available as an option for those looking for a more spirited driving experience.

Once the Maserati Grecale is launched, it will join the Levante in the Italian automaker’s family of SUVs. It will be smaller in size than the brand’s first SUV model, making it the more affordable option. Both models will improve the versatility of the brand’s lineup by catering to the growing demand for high-performance SUVs in the market.
