This poses an entrapment risk.

Being stuck inside a small and enclosed space is frightening. Good thing for Lamborghini Huracan owners, the Italian automaker has identified an issue ahead of time in some units of the V10-powered model which could lock persons sitting on the driver’s side in its tight, supercar cabin.

According to the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration (NHTSA), Lamborghini will be notifying Huracan owners next month of a recall due to a door handle issue. The safety clip of the cable that unlatches the door may have not been properly positioned.

When the defect is not addressed, the cable could become loose and the left-side doors may not be opened from the outside. This issue is said to pose an ‘entrapment risk,’ especially during emergencies where drivers are badly hurt from the inside.

Based on the automaker’s investigation, human error was traced during the assembly process. The investigation also suggests that at least 21 units of the Huracan EVO and STO produced between April 15th, 2022 and May 17th, 2022 carry the defect.

Lamborghini will notify affected owners between July 1 and July 8, 2022. Dealers will check the position of the safety clip and make necessary adjustments, free of charge. Moreover, the company said that it will not offer a reimbursement plan as all involved vehicles are still fresh from the factory.

The Lamborghini Huracan EVO is the standard model of the range, while the STO serves as the more track-oriented version. 75 percent of the bodywork of the Huracan STO is made of carbon fiber and aero kits have been added for improved downforce.

Both models are powered by a 5.2-liter naturally-aspirated V10 engine also found in the Audi R8. A 7-speed dual-clutch transmission (DCT) comes standard across the range. The Huracan is capable of running from zero to 100 km/h in just 2.9 seconds.
