The Japanese car brand plans to go all in on EVs with the Honda 0 Series.

Honda announced at this year’s Consumer Electronics Show (CES) that it will be launching a new global electric vehicle (EV) series in 2026. The Japanese automaker provided a preview of its future design direction through two EV concept models, the Saloon and the Space-Hub.

Honda said at the 2024 CES that the Saloon and Space-Hub EV concepts are the first glimpse of the Honda 0 Series. The Japanese automaker added that the EV concepts were developed using a new Honda electrification design and engineering.

“We have gone back to basics and formulated the Honda 0 Series with a design for the new era. A bold and pure proportion that from the first glance is overwhelmingly different from other EVs to evoke a new perspective for people,” said Honda Global EVP Shinji Aoyama.

The Honda 0 Series is guided by three core design principles: Thin, Light, and Wise. Honda explained that these principles will be reflected in key areas like the use of a dedicated “thin” EV platform that creates a low floor for aerodynamic performance and software-defined mobility products for a “wiser” and intelligent user experience.

The Saloon is the flagship EV concept of the Honda 0 Series. The car brand said that the Saloon EV concept features Honda’s M/M (man maximum/machine minimum) design philosophy. The M/M design approach explains why the Honda Saloon EV comes with a low and wide exterior that’s complemented by a roomy cabin.

Honda also shared that the Saloon EV concept is integrated with sustainable materials. Inside, the concept’s instrument panel is said to be equipped with a simple yet intuitive interface. The interior alone looks futuristic and one can instantly notice the clutter-free layout.

A large screen appears to be dominating the whole dashboard, giving the Honda Saloon EV concept a modern finish. The steering wheel design further adds to the concept’s modern look while the seats add a touch of sportiness to the concept’s cabin. As such, the Japanese car brand said that the Saloon EV concept offers excellent visibility and a sporty driving position.

It’s also confirmed that Honda will be introducing a production vehicle based on the Saloon EV concept, which is seen to debut in the North American market in 2026. It will then be followed by model introductions in Japan, Asia, Europe, Africa, the Middle East, and South America.

Revealed alongside the Saloon is the second EV concept under the Honda 0 Series. Dubbed Space-Hub, this concept features a spacious cabin and notable outside visibility. Honda said that the Space-Hub EV concept intends to augment people’s daily lives by offering a flexible space that can accommodate a variety of passengers.

It’s also meant to be a hub that connects people to each other and the outside world. Like the Saloon, the Honda Space-Hub EV concept features a modern-looking dashboard that’s dominated by a large screen. The steering wheel design also looks as modern as the one seen on the Honda Saloon EV concept.

The passenger area, on the other hand, offers lounge-like seating that’s enclosed in a vast amount of greenhouse–creating a panoramic view of the outside surroundings.
