GAC Motor Philippines’ entry into the sports sedan market, the Empow, is offered with a Php 50,000 cash discount at the 2023 Auto Focus Test Drive Festival.

The cash discount is available on the base GS and mid-spec GB variants. After the discount, the Empow GS and GB can be availed of with Auto Focus special prices of Php 1,085,000 and Php 1,165,000, respectively.
For the price, you get a sports sedan fitted with standard features such as LED headlamps, air filter (PM1), 7-inch instrument panel, 10.25-inch infotainment system with Smartphone connection (Apple CarPlay) and Bluetooth, and passive entry and start functions.
It gets a sporty-looking cabin
Opt for the GAC Empow GB and you get to benefit from an Advanced Driving Assistance System (ADAS). This provides driving assistive functions such as Adaptive Cruise Control (ACC), Autonomous Emergency Braking (AEB), Lane Keep Assist (LKA), and Traffic Jam Assist (TJA), among others.
Under the hood is a standard 1.5-liter turbocharged gasoline engine capable of generating 174 horsepower and 270 Nm of torque. It sends power exclusively to the front wheels via a 7-speed wet Dual Clutch Transmission (DCT). The Chinese automaker claims that the vehicle can go from zero to 100 km/h in 6.95 seconds.

To see which GAC Empow would fancy your tickle, visit this year’s Auto Focus Test Drive Festival and drive the sedan. It is happening at the SM Mall of Asia Concert Grounds until May 7, 2023. Gates are open from 11:00 a.m. to 9:00 p.m., and admission is free.

This variant adds exclusive bits including 18-inch alloy wheels, power-folding side mirrors, dual-zone climate control, and multi-color ambient lighting. The GAC Empow is a five-seater, four-door sedan. In the Philippine market, it has three different variants. There’s the base GS DCT priced at Php 1,225,000, the midspec GB DCT which can be had for Php 1,305,000, and the top-spec GE GCT which retails at Php 1,348,000.
Powering the GAC Empow is a 1.5-liter turbocharged inline-4 gasoline engine that’s capable of producing up to 168 horsepower and 270 Nm of torque. Power is then sent to its front wheels via a seven-speed wet-type dual-clutch automatic gearbox.
Size-wise, the Empow is 4,700mm long, 1,850mm wide, and 1,432mm in height. Its wheelbase then spans 2,736mm.
Locally, the 2023 GAC Empow competes against the Toyota Corolla Altis, Honda Civic, MG6, among others.
