The GAC Emkoo is a 5-seater compact crossover that will go up against the likes of the Ford Territory and Chery Tiggo 7 Pro. It will compete in the local market with intricate styling, a modern interior, and a host of Advanced Driver Assistance System (ADAS) functions.

Inspired by Sci-Fi elements, the Emkoo has grille-less-like front fascia, and a pair of fang-like LED daytime running lamps, giving the crossover a distinct look. The sharp design cues continue to the side with the aggressive character lines that connect the front and the rear.

Speaking of the rear, a fast-back-inspired design is adopted, paired with high-level brake light, V-shape formation tail lights, and dual vertical twin exhaust pipes. The vehicle rides on a set of 19-inch multi-spoke wheels that has more of a unique closed-off finish.

The interior is said to be integrated with intelligent technology, which aims to give passengers an immersive experience on the road. Fine materials such as hand-sewn leather seats and high-quality finishes on the panels are used throughout the cabin.

Two screens are installed in the Emkoo – a 7-inch digital instrument cluster and a floating-type 10.1-inch infotainment touchscreen with Apple CarPlay. Other amenities include power adjustment and ventilation functions for the front-row seats, automatic air conditioning with second-row vents, and configurable ambient lighting.

As mentioned earlier, the Chinese crossover is equipped with ADAS, offering functions such as Adaptive Cruise Control with Integrated Cruise Assist, Traffic Sign Recognition, Forward Collision Warning, Autonomous Emergency Braking, and Lane Keep Assist, among others.

1.5-liter turbo mill

Under the hood is a 1.5-liter GDI turbocharged gasoline engine capable of delivering 177 horsepower and 270 Nm of torque. It is connected to a 7-speed wet dual-clutch transmission (DCT), which according to GAC, provides quicker shifting as compared to a torque converter gearbox.

GAC Motor Philippines is offering the Emkoo in two variants, namely the 1.5 GE at Php 1,413,000 and 1.5 GL at Php 1,553,000. Like the other available GAC models, the Emkoo also comes with a 5-year warranty on parts and services. Furthermore, an additional Php 20,000 discount for the Emkoo and the rest of the GAC lineup can be availed of by reservations made at the MIAS or at any of the brand's dealerships nationwide from April 13 to 16, 2023.

We are excited to change the game in the segment with this latest addition to our expanding lineup of vehicles,” said GAC Motor Philippines Brand Head Jun Cajayon.

Another highlight at GAC Motor Philippines’ MIAS booth is the top-of-the-line variant of the Empow called GE. Standing tall with a variant-exclusive Matte Fighter Green exterior paint, the GAC Empow GE comes with 18-inch alloys, paddle shifters, power-folding mirrors, and a full suite of ADAS.
