Ford could make F1 comeback with Red Bull Racing: Report

Formula 1 is considered the pinnacle of motorsports. This is why many automakers would want to give a shot at competing in the racing series. Now, it seems like Ford is reckoning a comeback to F1.

Ford could join F1 with Red Bull as partner

In a report by Autosport.com, Ford appears to show interest in entering F1 with Red Bull Racing (RBR). It makes sense considering that the F1’s popularity is surging, including in the United States where NASCAR (National Association for Stock Car Auto Racing) has always been the go-to sport of American petrolheads.

Earlier this year, Porsche was looking to enter F1 with Red Bull in 2026. However, reports suggest that the current F1 champion team doesn’t agree with sharing the ownership stake that the German automaker hoped for. With the deal likely falling through, Ford seems to be the front-runner to land a partnership with Red Bull.

Red Bull is still looking for potential partners from 2026

If that happens, it would be interesting to know what the Blue Oval company will bring to the table. Red Bull has committed to producing its own engine from 2026 as its partnership with Honda is coming to an end. Team boss Christian Horner might’ve hinted that they are looking for someone that can offer technical support in his comment you can read below:

“We are fully focused on a Red Bull power unit, and if there was a like-minded partner that could contribute something to the project, then of course you would have to absolutely consider that. But it’s not a prerequisite.”

Ford boasts a 41-year run at F1 under its belt, predominantly in partnership with engine supplier Cosworth. Ford and Red Bull are already familiar with each other as the automaker exited the sport when RBR bought Jaguar back in 2004. Also, Red Bull and M-Sport, a team that runs Ford Puma Hybrid Rally1 units for competition, have a partnership at the World Rally Championship (WRC).
