Even the validity of medical certificates is extended.

In light of the quarantine restrictions in parts of the Philippines, the Land Transportation Office (LTO) has extended the validity of its issued driver’s licenses. This includes student permits, driver’s licenses, and conductor’s licenses. The validity of medical certificates needed to get those licenses were also extended.

Specifically, if any of those licenses have expired in October 2021, you now have until December 31, 2021 to renew. For those that are yet to expire in November 2021, you then have until January 31, 2022. In addition, licenses that will be expiring in December 2021 now have until February 28, 2022 to renew.

As for vehicle registration, it is also worth noting that those with plate numbers ending in 0 also have extended registration validity until December 31, 2021. This was reported back in October, but the LTO has also reposted this days ago as a reminder. Of note, motor vehicles that have plates ending in 9 also have until November 31, 2021 to renew their registrations.

The LTO has also clarified a couple of weeks ago that vehicle owners can either choose to have their inspections at private motor vehicle inspection centers (PMVICS) or at private emission testing centers (PETC).

The extension means more time for motorists to renew their licenses

Going back to licenses, do note that the driver’s licenses with a 10-year validity are already being rolled out. For now though, one can only acquire this 10-year license from the LTO Central Office - Licensing Section, and from the Quezon City Licensing Center. Other LTO branches are yet to offer the driver’s license with a 10-year validity.

Furthermore, one has to acquire a Comprehensive Driver’s Education (CDE) certificate from the LTO Online portal via the online exam, or by taking the CDE refresher seminar and exam from an LTO driver’s education center. The said course and exam can also be taken from any LTO accredited driver’s school.
