The City Sedan is once again the best-selling Honda vehicle in the Philippines, defending its position for two consecutive years now.

Honda Cars Philippines, Inc. (HCPI) president Masahiko Nakamura shared that the City Sedan yielded sales of almost 3,500 units in 2022. This shows that the City Sedan continues to have its appeal among Honda car buyers even after its official launch last October 2020.

The City Sedan is currently available in three variants with a starting price of Php 953,000 for the S CVT variant. The mid-spec V CVT, on the other hand, is priced at Php 1,033,000 while the top-of-the-line RS CVT retails at Php 1,093,000.

All Honda City variants are powered by a 1.5-liter DOHC i-VTEC gasoline engine that delivers 119 hp and 145 Nm of torque. The engine is then connected to a continuously variable transmission (CVT). Of note, HCPI dropped the manual transmission option for the City Sedan last July 2022.

In terms of fuel efficiency, HCPI claims that the City Sedan can do 25.17 km/l on the highway while driving at speeds of 60 to 80 km/h. The said fuel economy run was conducted with the Automobile Association of the Philippines (AAP).

Coming in as the second best-selling Honda vehicle in the Philippines in 2022 is the Brio subcompact hatchback, recording over 3,400 units sold last year. Looking at the numbers, the Brio is not far off with the City Sedan’s total unit sales in 2022. The Honda Brio is available in four variants with a starting price of Php 680,000 while the top-spec RS Black Top trim retails at Php 838,000.

The Honda Brio is fitted with a 1.2-liter gasoline engine that puts out 89 hp and 110 Nm of torque. The engine can be mated to either a five-speed manual or CVT.

Taking the third spot is the Honda BR-V with nearly 3,300 units. The bulk of the said unit sales is most likely the outgoing BR-V since the all-new model was launched in November 2022. As such, HCPI is looking forward for the all-new Honda BR-V to make its presence felt in the local market this 2023.

“We are truly grateful for the trust of our customers, and we will take this to the next level with the all-new BR-V that is already making an even bigger impact in the commercial vehicles segment. We have ensured our inventory and we are excited to serve more customers,” HCPI president Masahiko Nakamura said.

Overall, HCPI said that it recorded a 10 percent increase in unit sales last year, which translates to sales of almost 14,000 units.
