The Cebu Cordova Link Expressway Corporation (CCLEC) is taking safety within the Cebu-Cordova Link Expressway (CCLEX) up a notch by conducting a road safety campaign.
CCLEC is prioritizing safety within CCLEX
In partnership with the Land Transportation Office (LTO), the road safety campaign saw the turnover of the deputization order to CCLEX patrol crew at the CCLEX Toll Plaza. A total of 16 CCLEX patrol crews were officially deputized by the government agency after completing and passing their deputization training and examinations.
“Our expressway is a traffic discipline zone, and we are continuously partnering and collaborating with LTO as part of our road safety advocacy,” said CCLEC Operations Manager Mareon Therese Miole.

With the deputization, the CCLEX patrol crews can now issue tickets to violators of the expressway. Among the safety regulations within the expressway include a 40 km/h speed limit on the main bridge, a 60 km/h speed limit on the causeway, and the wearing of seatbelts.
Moreover, the patrol crews are responsible for responding to any traffic-related incidents. They are tasked to assist motorists when their vehicles break down. LTO Director for Law Enforcement Service Atty. Clarence V. Guinto asked them to be “models” and “advocates” of road safety.

Aside from manpower, the expressway has smart management traffic that overlooks the situations within the road network. This system is capable of detecting load, speed, license plates, and road weather conditions. An RFID system is used courtesy of Metro Pacific Tollways Corp. (MPTC).
The 8.9-km CCLEX is built not only to provide a seamless road network between Cebu City and the town of Cordova in Mactan Island but also to become a landmark in the region. As such, safety must be ensured at all times to make sure motorists will continue patronizing the expressway.
“I enjoin you to do good because you do not represent yourself but your organization, CCLEC, and LTO because we gave you the deputization,” said Atty. Guinto.
