The country has been built with some of the most important infrastructures we have seen over the years. One of the upcoming projects is the Cebu-Cordova Link Expressway (CCLEX), an 8.5-km two-lane inter-island that will connect Cebu City and the Cordova town in Mactan Island.
CCLEX when viewed from afar
Developer Cebu Cordova Link Expressway Corporation (CCLEC) shared that the CCLEX is designed not only to provide a route for motorists in Cebu, but also to become an iconic and recognizable landmark in the Visayas. Sort of like the Golden Gate Bridge in California or the Brooklyn Bridge in New York.
Moreover, the project is seen as a key component in driving Cebu’s economic development. This will improve the lives of people residing in the area in the long run.
Update on the project
With that being said, many rejoiced when the photo showing the two ends of the CCLEX look like they have finally met midway circulated online. However, the bridge isn’t actually completed just yet which can be seen more clearly when viewed from above.
In the recent report of CCLEC dated September 5, the gap of Cebu’s pride was still 11 meters. It is only when viewed from afar that the bridge seems like it is completed. The report also announced that it will take a couple of weeks more to close the gap.
The gap is closing
Regardless, it is only a matter of time before motorists will be able to use the CCLEX. It will be installed with an all-electronic toll system under the Metro Pacific Tollways Corporation (MPTC) to enable a faster traffic flow and seamless travel. MPTC also manages other expressways such as the North Luzon Expressway (NLEX), Subic-Clark-Tarlac Expressway (SCTEX), among others.
Upon completion, the CCLEX is expected to accommodate 50,000 vehicles daily. To maintain safety for the large number of motorists traversing the bridge, it will be constructed with motion sensors, speed cameras, and high definition closed-circuit televisions (CCTVs).
