Video shows Cebu Cordova Link bridge nears completion

Destined to be Cebu’s Pride, the Cebu-Cordova Link Expressway (CCLEX) got massive improvement since the last time we reported about it. To give an early look at the near completion progress, here is a one-minute and 44-second drone footage shared by a Facebook user named Robert Tatii.

Latest update on the Cebu-Cordova Link Expressway

The CCLEX is an 8.5-km two-lane inter-island bridge that will connect Cebu City and Cordova Town in Mactan Island. It is designed with a 51-meter navigational clearance so ships are able to move underneath the bridge without imposing a risk of colliding on it.

According to the developer Cebu Cordova Link Expressway Corporation (CCLEC), the CCLEX is now closing the gap at the main bridge which is at 14 meters only. The CCLEC also stated that there are just four segments left to be constructed before the two decks will be connected, including the installation of the last stay cable.

It is nearing its completion

Upon completion, the new pride of Cebu is expected to accommodate 50,000 vehicles daily, making it one of the biggest infrastructure projects in the country. Additionally, it aims to become a recognizable landmark in the Visayas just like other famous inter-island bridges in the world.

To improve the traffic flow, the CCLEX will be using an all-electronic toll system under the Metro Pacific Tollways Corporation, the same company that manages Easytrip RFID in Luzon. With that being said, Cebuanos can expect a smooth journey traversing the inter-island bridge.

In other news, CCLEC clarified that the photo that went viral showing a misalignment in the construction of the bridge is manipulated. Although the developer acknowledges the intended humor of the post, it just wants to address the issue so it can enlighten those who thought the photo was real. CCLEC also took the opportunity to assure everyone that the bridge is being built by local and international engineers, and construction experts.
