Suzuki may not have a comprehensive electric vehicle (EV) lineup but the Japanese automaker has been taking steps to adapt to the industry’s shift to electrification. The latest effort from the brand is the launching of the new XL7 facelift with a hybrid powertrain.
It comes with the same hybrid engine as the Suzuki Ertiga
The new Suzuki XL7 follows the introduction of the hybrid versions of the Grand Vitara and Ertiga last February in Indonesia. It is powered by the same 1.5-liter gasoline engine paired with an integrated starter generator (ISG) and a lithium-ion battery pack, producing a total output of 103 horsepower and 138 Nm of torque.
Suzuki offers the crossover-inspired MPV with a five-speed manual and a four-speed automatic transmission depending on the trim. It is also equipped with an auto start/stop system and regenerative braking, which should help the vehicle deliver improved fuel efficiency.

There were also a few cosmetic changes made such as a new grille design with a black chrome surround. The dark theme continues with the new black alloy wheels and smoked taillights. Other exterior updates include a new chrome tailgate garnish, a new short pole antenna, a new two-tone paint scheme, and a new hybrid emblem.
Inside, the vehicle is equipped with an E-mirror system, which displays the rearview on the rearview mirror using a camera. It also has cruise control that can help drivers get even better fuel efficiency when cruising down a highway.

Suzuki Philippines, Inc. (SPH) has no word yet regarding the introduction of this facelifted model in the local market, but this hybrid technology is already made available to Filipinos through the Suzuki Ertiga. According to the company, the Philippine-spec version of the hybrid MPV can return as much as 26.8 km/l.
