Isuzu Philippines Corporation (IPC) has officially launched the updated versions of the D-Max and mu-X at the Isuzu Summer Music Festival, held at the Alabang Town Center.
Isuzu updated its passenger car lineup
The Isuzu D-Max is the brand’s entry into the pickup truck segment while the mu-X is its midsize SUV counterpart. For the 2023 models, select variants of the two vehicles receive exterior updates that enhance aesthetics. Isuzu also added new color options to cater to different tastes among prospective buyers.
Most of the changes on the new D-Max LS-A and LS-E variants are found on the exterior. The truck comes with a new black chrome two-tone grille, which ditches the fang-like ends for a more straightforward finish. A newly-designed set of 18-inch matte dark gray alloy wheels replace the quirky wheel design of the outgoing model.

Other changes include the dark gray accessories of the front and rear over fenders, cargo extenders, and front bumper guard. These provide not only a more rugged look but also protection for the pickup.
Meanwhile, the new top-spec Isuzu mu-X LS-E variants host exterior tweaks that are said to give the SUV a “more premium and elegant look.” The new two-tone grille gets a darker finish, while the new alloy wheel design is finished with straighter spokes than the old ones.

Aside from cosmetic updates, the flagship variant is now also equipped with a new smart tailgate. It allows owners to open the smart tailgate automatically without the need to reach for the car key. The step sensor eliminates the need for owners to swing one of their feet under the bumper. Instead, the feature is activated by a step motion in front of the rear bumper.
As mentioned earlier, the two Isuzu vehicles come with new color options. The D-Max LS-E and LS-A variants are offered with new Isla Gray while the mu-X LS-E is available with new Norwegian Blue.

The 2023 Isuzu D-Max and mu-X are still equipped with the same engine. All updated variants of the said vehicles are powered by a 3.0-liter 4JJ3-TCX turbodiesel engine good for 187 horsepower and 450 Nm of torque. It can be paired with either a 6-speed manual or a 6-speed automatic gearbox.

The Isuzu mu-X Philippines 2023 is the Japanese marque's entry to the 7-seater midsize SUV based on its pickup truck sibling, the Isuzu D-Max. It is offered in five variants with a price that ranges from Php 1,650,000 to Php 2,505,000. For the Philippines market, the Isuzu-made SUV has two available engine options. The smaller one is a 1.9-liter RZ4E Bluepower turbodiesel capable of making up to 148 horsepower and 350 Nm of torque. It can either come with a six-speed manual or a six-speed automatic transmission. Meanwhile, the larger engine option for the mu-X is a 3.0-liter inline-4 turbodiesel. At most, this mill can produce up to 187 horsepower and 450 Nm of torque. Only a six-speed automatic transmission is available with this engine.
Dimensions-wise, the mu-X is 4,850 mm long, 1,870 mm wide, and 1,825 mm high, with a wheelbase and ground clearance rated at 2,855 mm and 235 mm, respectively. Locally, this midsize SUV is competing against the likes of the Toyota Fortuner, Nissan Terra, and Mitsubishi Montero Sport.
