It's going to look like the Japanese-spec XV.

Motor Image Pilipinas is bringing in the facelifted 2021 Subaru XV sometime in June. The said model was also hinted at by several posts on social media bearing the tagline: “Seriously Fun.”

For those folks who are excited about this new model, you can even register at Subaru Asia’s official website. But, what can we expect from the facelifted Subaru XV?

As a refreshed model, changes on the upcoming XV are not that extensive. If we based it on the looks of the refreshed Japanese-spec XV released in October 2020, it will come with design changes to its front end.

More specifically, it features sharper corners and additional cladding, making it even more SUV-like. The facelifted XV will also be getting a new set of 18-inch wheels with a fresh new design.

As for mechanical changes, Subaru gave the facelifted XV a retuned suspension system for better ride quality. It will also come with the dual-mode X-Mode, which is also found on the Forester. This system provides additional drive modes to better handling mud and dirt.

The facelift also comes with the new Plasma Yellow Pearl color

Inside the 2021 XV, we can expect that it will remain largely the same. The Japanese-spec model did receive new patterns for its seats and a new touchscreen head unit. And lastly, several control buttons were rearranged for better reach and usability.

For engines, it is highly likely that the upcoming Philippine version of the refreshed XV will stick to the 2.0-liter boxer-four that the current version uses. At most, this gasoline mill can make up to 154 horsepower and 196 Nm of torque.

The said engine is paired to a continuously variable transmission, and power is sent to all wheels. Of note, the Japan version of the 2021 XV comes with a smaller, less powerful 1.6-liter boxer engine, which we doubt will reach local markets.
