With the prevailing trend of crossovers, D-segment sedans are facing a hard time with the market concerned about ground clearance. However, there's still nothing to hold back the US carmaker from launching its all-new Chevrolet Malibu 2018 in the Philippines. The D-segment sedan 9th- gen Malibu will gain a new look which is more dynamic throughout. The model is expected to stand on the showrooms’ shelves longer compared to the previous-gen model.

The new-gen Malibu has only one variant that is the LTZ. There will be a significant change for the look of this new model with a sleeker, longer and lower body. It seemingly gets a lift-back outline inspired by the Impala along with signature designs too. The model keeps the split grille characteristic of Chevrolet but the others of the front receive a unique treatment. On the other hands, the rear is inspired by the European style extending the rear windshield to the trunk lid. In spite of its size getting bigger, the Malibu 2018, surprisingly, is 136kg lighter when the carmaker decided to use lightweight high-strength steel.

Stepping inside, the Chevrolet Malibu 2018’s wide dashboard is designed in a wraparound style with its fascia sweeping and rounded. The cabin features angles and soft curves. Coming standard as almost every other D-segment sedan is a large touchscreen in the center of the dash with Mylink System of Chevy. The auto manufacturer claims they are the pioneer in adding wireless smartphone chargers in their model. The panoramic sunroof is promised to be exciting for occupants. What’s more, music fans won’t be disappointed with excellent experience created by a 9-channel Bose audio system.

The new Chevy sedan will be powered by EcoTech, a new turbocharged engine instead of the existing naturally-aspirated 2.4-litre. With this smaller but more powerful engine, it cranks out 353 Nm of torque and 250 PS, running the General Motors’ 9-speed automatic transmission. The safety system includes 8 airbags, Rear Cross Traffic Alert, Side Blind Zone Alert, Lane Departure Warning, Lane Keeping Assist, and Stability Control.
When it comes to price, Chevrolet Philippines has always been the quickest informant. They say a Chevrolet Malibu LTZ 2018 price starts at P2,131,888.
