It will be available at Ford dealerships starting December 21.

Ford Philippines has been ramping up its lineup with all-new versions of its models. The next-gen Ford F-150 made its Philippine debut last November, discontinuing the gasoline powertrain in favor of a diesel unit. Next year, we could get our hands on the next-gen Ford Ranger which should be exciting considering that it is the brand’s best-selling model in the country.

But for now, the car of the hour is the all-new Ford Explorer. Ford Philippines finally rolled out the specifications and pricing of its PH-spec Explorer after its unveiling earlier this year. The American premium midsize crossover will be sold under the sole Limited variant only.

“We are thrilled to introduce the all-new Explorer to our growing SUV lineup in the country. The all-new Explorer builds on its success as one of Ford’s most rugged and capable midsize SUVs through several design and feature enhancements, making it a more formidable offering for customers seeking refinement in their SUV,” said Ford Philippines Managing Director Michael Breen.

Exterior

The all-new Ford Explorer departs from the boxy-like exterior design of the previous fifth-gen model, now getting bolder lines and sweeping contours paired with new wraparound LED headlights. Also, the front fog lamps and taillamps with amber turn signals are rendered in LED for a more efficient and brighter illumination on the road.

Now on its sixth-gen version

Chrome is the go-to for the new midsize crossover as it can be seen all over the exterior, creating a premium appeal. The vehicle is designed with a silver-painted mesh grille with chrome bars, body-colored door handles with chrome inserts, chrome dual-exhaust tips, and black with chrome accent lower body side claddings.

Interior

For the sixth-gen Ford Explorer, the dark interior theme is still retained. Passengers benefit from leather seating surfaces with micro-perforation which get accent stitching. The driver sits on a heated and ventilated, 10-way power-adjustable seat with memory, while the front passenger has an 8-way power-adjustable seat.

Moreover, the dual-panel moonroof is carried over to the current Ford Explorer Limited, a feature that all passengers including those in the third row can enjoy. To improve comfort and convenience, the second-row passengers have sun blinds which can be handy especially during summertime in the Philippines.

Tech & Safety

The size of the infotainment screen is still the same at eight inches. However, it now has a floating-type design, providing a more modern touch to the cabin. It comes with SYNC3, Apple CarPlay, and Android Auto so passengers can stay connected. A 12-speaker B&O sound system by Bang & Olufsen is paired to the infotainment display.

With Ford Co-Pilot360, the new Explorer is able to offer advanced safety features. Included in the system are a 360-degree camera, Pre-Collision Assist with Automatic Emergency Braking (AEB) with Pedestrian Detection, Intelligent Adaptive Cruise Control with Stop-and-Go and Lane Centering, Lane-Keeping System, Forward Collision Warning, Evasive Steering Assist, among others.

Engine

Only one engine option is offered in the PH-spec Ford Explorer Limited, namely the 2.3-liter inline-4 EcoBoost engine that makes 300 hp and 420 Nm of torque. It is connected to a 10-speed automatic transmission. This means that the 3.5-liter V6 EcoBoost engine available in the previous model has officially been discontinued.

The power is sent to the model’s standard 20-inch aluminum wheels via an Intelligent 4WD with Terrain Management System. Under the said system, drivers can choose between seven selectable drive modes to suit the road condition and desired driving experience.

Price

The Ford Explorer Limited will be available at Ford dealerships with a price tag of Php 2,998,000. To note, the local sales of the new midsize crossover will officially start on December 21, 2021.

Ford Philippines will be offering the all-new Explorer in eight colors, namely Agate Black Metallic, Iconic Silver Metallic, Stone Gray, Oxford White, Rapid Red Metallic, Atlas Blue Metallic, Carbonized Gray Metallic, and Star Metallic White (additional Php 15,000).
