Coming in three different variants, the Yaris Cross’ suggested retail price ranges from Php 1,199,000 to Php 1,598,000. The S HEV sits as the model’s top-of-the-line trim, and as of its introduction, it is the brand’s most affordable hybrid variant.

So what does this new compact crossover offer to prospective buyers? Let’s check it out in detail to find out.

Exterior

On the outside, the all-new Yaris Cross assumes a modern look that’s also seen on other Toyota crossovers. It sports a trapezoidal grille, a pair of sharp LED headlamps, angular LED daytime running lamps, and a lower front bumper with a wide air vent and a faux skid plate.

Its sides meanwhile get black plastic cladding just like many other crossover models nowadays. The profile of the vehicle contrasts with its front end as it is mostly smooth. Well, save for its side skirts which are a bit sharp and angular.

From the rear, it then gets a faux skid plate and a pair of U-shaped LED taillamps. Also present in this section is a rear spoiler.

The aforementioned LED lights on the Yaris Cross are standard across all three trims. The same goes for the model’s LED fog lamps, clearance lamps, roof rails, and shark fin antenna. Only the S Hybrid, however, gets a panoramic sunroof.

Interior

Step inside the Yaris Cross and you’ll be greeted by a space fit for up to five occupants. Its driver is then provided with a stylish but relatively straightforward front cabin with physical controls for the crossover’s automatic climate control system.

Top-end trims then come with leather seats and an eight-way power-adjustable driver seat. All variants get a 60:40 split-folding rear seat, a digital meter cluster, a seven-inch TFT multi-information display, black soft-touch surfaces with blue trims, a total of four bottle holders, and two cup holders.

Tech & Safety

Providing safety of certain trims (S HEV and V CVT) is the Toyota Safety Sense advanced driver-assistive suite. This includes a pre-collision system, automatic high beams, lane trace assist, lane keep assist, and adaptive cruise control.

It gets wireless Apple CarPlay and Android Auto, which goes well with its wireless smartphone charging pad. Only the S HEV gets a total of six speakers. The entry-level G meanwhile, comes with four speakers.

There are two engine options for the 2024 Yaris Cross. For the top-spec S Hybrid, it is propelled by the 1.5-liter 2NR-VEX. The combustion component of this four-banger hybrid makes a total of 81 horsepower and 121 Nm of torque. Its motor generator then adds 78 horsepower, upping its total output to 109 horsepower.

The mid-spec V and entry-level G meanwhile, get the combustion-only 1.5-liter 2NR-VE. At the most, this mill outputs 104 horsepower and 138 Nm of torque.
