The next-generation 2024 Honda CR-V is now in the Philippines. It comes in three different variants with the RS e:HEV hybrid as the top-spec trim, the VX AWD Turbo as the mid-spec variant, and the V Turbo as the entry-level model. Prices for these range from Php 2.100 million to Php 2.590 million.

This is the sixth-generation version of the Honda CR-V which was initially launched in Thailand. It boasts plenty of improvements ranging from its more modern exterior look to its new hybrid powertrain.

So what’s new on the next-gen CR-V? Let’s talk about its specs to get to know it a little bit better.

Exterior

On the outside, the new CR-V gets a more mature-looking front fascia with sleeker proportions compared to the outgoing model. Think of it as a larger version of the Honda HR-V

Up front, it gets a blacked-out grille with hexagonal patterns. Below is a functional front vent, and a lower front bumper that’s filled with angular lines and sporty details. Standard on the front of the new CR-V is a pair of sharp-looking LED headlamps with auto on/off but only the top-spec RS e:HEV gets an auto-leveling function. The CR-V also features sequential turn signals, LED front fog lamps, and LED daytime running lamps.

Towards the sides, the new crossover model gets a straight window line and a relatively flat roof. Present on all trims is a pair of power-folding side mirrors and roof rails. Only the top-spec hybrid trim gets a sunroof.

The rear of the new Honda mid-size crossover then gets a pair of hook-shaped LED taillights that extend up to follow the contours of the power tailgate. And depending on the trim, the all-new crossover also features a dual exhaust setup.

Wrapping up the looks of the top-spec hybrid is a set of piano black aluminum alloy 18-inch wheels. The rest meanwhile get 18-inch silver aluminum alloy wheels. Other bits exclusive to the RS e:HEV are a piano black tailgate spoiler, piano black side mirrors, a shutter grille, and a black-colored shark fin antenna.

Size-wise, the new CR-V are all 4,691mm long and 1,866mm wide. The RS and the entry-level V Turbo are both 1,681mm tall, while the mid-spec VX is 1,691mm tall. Both the RS and V also get a wheelbase length of 2,701mm, whereas the VX’s wheelbase spans 2,700mm. Lastly, the VX gets the most ground clearance at 208mm, while the other two offer a ground clearance of 198mm.

If a buyer wants to spruce up the all-new CR-V’s looks, Honda Cars PH also released genuine accessories for the all-new crossover. This includes a front aero bumper, a rear under spoiler, a roof cross bar, door visors, side running boards, a tonneau cover, cargo trays, seat back protectors, etc.

Interior

Before anything else about the interior, note that only the non-hybrid CR-V trims, the VX and the V, have a seven-seater capacity. The top-of-the-line hybrid meanwhile, can only seat up to five.

While lacking a third row, the top-spec trim gets some niceties that aren’t present on the other two. This includes power-adjustable lumbar support, a heads-up display, a power flow meter (for the hybrid powertrain), and black leather seats with red contrast stitching.

With that out of the way, the interior of the CR-V reflects the current style direction of Honda interiors. Its dashboard is mostly flat and control surfaces are neatly arranged in the center console. Keeping everyone cool inside the CR-V VX and V is a triple-zone automatic climate control system. This means the variants that come with this feature have three separate AC controls for the driver, front passenger, and second row. The two-row hybrid then gets a dual-zone automatic climate control system with individual controls for the front passenger and driver.

For seating, the Honda crossover comes standard with an eight-way power adjustable driver’s seat, as well as a 60:40 split-folding second-row seat. The ones on the VX and V get a one-action sliding function to access their 50:50 split reclining third rows.

Due to the top-spec hybrid not having a third row, it gets the most default cargo space at 581 liters. The VX and V meanwhile, get a smaller default cargo capacity of 150 liters. With the second and third rows folded down, the VX and V get 840 liters of cargo space.

With its second row folded, the hybrid, in turn, gets 1,064 liters of cargo space. All variants get a power tailgate, but only the top-spec model comes with a hands-free feature.

Other convenience features found aboard the 2024 CR-V are illuminated control surfaces, ambient lighting, rear USB charging ports (type C), front charging ports (one type A and one type C), a 12-volt accessory charger, a leather shift knob, and active noise control.

Tech & Safety

Dominating the dashboard of Honda’s all-new crossover is a nine-inch touchscreen. For connectivity, it gets wireless Apple Carplay and Android Auto, Bluetooth, USB input, and audio streaming. Also standard on the 2024 CR-V is a wireless smartphone charging pad.

For the hybrid, the said touchscreen is linked to a 12-piece Bose speaker system. The VX and V meanwhile, get an eight-piece speaker system.

The driver is likewise provided with a 10.2-inch digital display. This can show various vehicle parameters including the driver attention warning system, the status of the vehicle’s safety features, range & fuel, speed & time, multi-media-related information, warnings, etc.

As expected from a modern crossover, the 2024 Honda CR-V gets plenty of standard safety features. This includes a total of seven airbags, anti-lock braking, stability control, hill-start assist, hill-descent control, a 360-degree view camera, tire pressure monitoring, ISOFIX child seat anchors, parking sensors (eight for RS, four for VX and V), a security alarm, an engine immobilizer, etc.

Supporting those aboard all three trims is the Honda Sensing driver-assistive safety suite. This includes adaptive cruise control with low-speed follow, collision mitigation braking, forward collision warning, lane keep assist, road departure mitigation, lane departure warning, automatic high beams, adaptive driving beams, lead car departure notification, and a driver attention monitor.

The all-new CR-V also comes with a free three-year subscription to the Honda Connect app. This enables users to monitor the status of the vehicle and even control some of its features remotely via one’s smartphone. Functions included in this app are a collision detection system, a security alarm, a “find my car” tool, and an emergency call feature.

The app can likewise determine if the car is due for a service, and it can remotely turn the vehicle on or off. A user can likewise remotely lock or unlock the car, and control its lights, as well as its air conditioning system.

Engine

The 2024 Honda CR-V has two different powertrain and drivetrain options. First is the RS e:HEV or hybrid which stands as the model’s top-spec trim.

It uses a 2.0-liter VTEC gasoline engine paired with a dual motor and lithium-ion battery setup. Alone, the gasoline engine can make up to 145 horsepower and 183 Nm of torque. The dual motors meanwhile, add 181 horsepower and 335 Nm of torque to its output. When the car was launched in Thailand, Honda said that the CR-V hybrid could generate a combined power output of 204 hp.

The VX and the V CR-V trims, on the other hand, are powered by a turbocharged 1.5-liter gasoline engine that can produce up to 187 horsepower and 240 Nm of torque.

Both the non-hybrid versions use a continuously variable transmission (CVT), whereas the top-spec RS e:HEV hybrid gets an electronic continuously variable transmission (e-CVT) with paddle shifters.

Both the top-spec RS e:HEV and the entry-level V Turbo are front-wheel drive vehicles. The VX meanwhile comes with all-wheel-drive.
