As automakers continue to find ways to make the industry more sustainable, Subaru has come up with a solution in partnership with Toyoda Gosei. The partnership has produced tote bags made from recycled airbags.
Subaru tote bags from recycled airbags
Toyoda Gosei is a manufacturer of automotive parts such as the airbags used for the tote bags. Considering that the fabric material used for the airbags is intended to deliver high collision safety performance, the Subaru-branded bags have excellent durability, heat resistance, and water resistance.
Dubbed as “Subaru x Re-S Upcycle Marche Bag,” the product has 550 mm of height (including the handle), 340 mm of width, and a depth of 120 mm. Subaru said that it can fit large towels and other items thanks to its wide opening.
While the base color is pale blue only, the Japanese automaker is offering the product with either blue or pink stripes on the handle. This makes up for better personalization. It is also fitted with a reflective material, improving safety when going out at night.
Subaru is growing sustainability within its operations
To top the design off, the bags come with the Subaru brand logo and the Re-S stamp.
The Subaru tote bag is priced at 2,750 Japanese yen (or around Php 1,127) each including taxes. As of this writing, the blue variant has already been sold out. So if you happen to be on a vacation in the Land of the Rising Sun, you can only grab the one with the pink stripes.
Not only do you get to contribute to sustainability but also represent the Subaru brand whenever you go out.
It is available with either blue or pink accents
Over at Subaru’s passenger car lineup, the automaker has taken a significant step towards reducing its carbon footprint with the Solterra electric vehicle (EV). It is built on the same dedicated EV platform as the Toyota bZ4X and Lexus RZ, with the latter recently making its Philippine debut with a Php 4.8 million price tag.
