Recently, the North Luzon Expressway (NLEX) Corporation has organized the Biyahero Road Safety Caravan. As its name implies, this is another initiative by NLEX which focuses on safe driving.

Of note, this was organized in partnership with the Haulers and Truckers Association in the Watersouth (HATAW). As such, the said activity also highlighted the importance of vehicle preventive maintenance. Road safety and a properly maintained vehicle go hand-in-hand after all.
All in all, the Biyahero Road Safety Caravan consists of two days of highly educational activities. These include lectures on safe expressway driving via the NLEX Usapang Driver seminar. There’s also the Proper Truck Maintenance seminar organized by the Truck Manufacturers Association (TMA), which in turn was represented by Joel C. Agcaoili of Hino Motors Corporation.
According to HATAW President Don Manebo, “safe and disciplined driving is clearly a shared responsibility.” In this, he refers to the convenience and safety that the NLEX provides, as well as the necessity of instilling the proper attitude, mindset, and skill set a truck driver should possess.
Those of course are achieved via activities like the Biyahero Road Safety Caravan. With the help of these activities, Manebo says that hopefully in the future, road accidents “caused by negligence or driver error” will be a thing of the past.
NLEX Corp. President J. Luigi L. Bautista also added that they believe in the effectiveness of programs like the Biyahero Road Safety Caravan. It is helpful in imparting and even influencing their stakeholders to be road safety advocates, and it will “remind them of their responsibility in making our expressways safe.”

The said activity, besides providing knowledge, didn’t entirely consist of talking-head lectures though. Instead, participants were also made aware of road safety via interactive games. One example of this is the driving simulator. They even got to familiarize themselves with the harmful effects of drunk driving via a pair of drunk driving goggles.
So yeah, who says learning about road safety can’t be fun?
