Manila, Makati to close roads for this week’s Bar Exams

The Bar Exams will be on February 4 (Friday), and February 6 (Sunday).

The 2020/21 Bar Examinations will push through this week after being suspended due to the surge in COVID-19 cases last January. The said exams will run on February 4 (Friday), and February 6 (Sunday). 

Espana Blvd to close for Bar Exams

The Westbound lane of España Blvd. from Lacson Ave. to P. Noval are among the roads to be closed

The City of Manila announced that several roads will be closed from February 4 and 6 to make way for the upcoming Bar Exams. The Manila Police District (MPD) said that it will be implementing road closures within the vicinity of three universities in Manila, which are the following: University of Santo Tomas (UST), Far Eastern University (FEU), and De La Salle University (DLSU). 

Certain roads will be closed to vehicular traffic from 12 midnight onwards as per the MPD. Affected motorists are advised to take alternate routes during the 2020/21 Bar Exams. 

Here are the closed as well as the alternative or re-routing roads released by the MPD: 

A. University of Santo Tomas (UST)

Road Closed: Westbound lane of España Blvd. from Lacson Ave. to P. Noval

Re-routing: 

- All vehicles intending to utilize the westbound lane of España shall turn right at A.H Lacson, left to Dapitan or left to A. Mendoza to point of destination

- All vehicles from southbound of A.H Lacson Ave. shall go straight to Nagtahan to point of destination

B. Far Eastern University (FEU)

Road Closed: Westbound lane of N. Reyes St. from España Blvd. to CM Recto Ave.

Re-routing:

- All vehicles coming from España Blvd. intending to utilize the westbound lane of N. Reyes shall turn right to P. Campa St., turn left to A. Mendoza going to CM Recto to point of destination

C. De La Salle University (DLSU)

Road Closed: Southbound lane of Taft Ave. from Quirino Ave. to Estrada St.

Re-routing:

- All vehicles utilizing the southbound lane of Taft Ave. going to Makati/Pasay area shall turn right to Quirino Ave., left to Adriatico to P. Ocampo to point of destination

- All vehicles traveling eastbound of Quirino Ave. intending to utilize the southbound lane of Taft Ave. going to Makati/Pasay area shall turn right to L. Guinto St., right to Estrada St., left to Taft Ave. to point of destination

Of note, stop and go traffic scheme will be implemented on España Blvd., N. Reyes St., and Taft Ave. during the drop-off of bar examinees. Parking within the vicinity of the examination venues is prohibited. The MPD clarified that the time of closing and opening of affected roads will be based on the actual traffic situation.

Meanwhile, Makati City has also announced road closure and traffic re-routing in line with this year’s Bar examinations. The Makati Public Safety Department (MPSD) will implement road closure along J.P. Rizal St. Extension from Buting to Lawton Ave on February 4 and 6. 

The road will be closed from 4 a.m. to 8 a.m., and 4 p.m. to 8 p.m. except for vehicles carrying examinees and concerned employees. The MPSD is requiring examines to present an Exam Permit to access entry on the closed roads. There will also be no parking space provided on the examination venues.
